Write a customer review. Read reviews that mention phones budget call iphone updates stock video device support google low plus t-mobile network range performance area honor card build.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later. I was a bit skeptical about the mobile network since I'm a T-mobile user in the US, but everything went smoothly once I put the sim card in.

I am also impressed by the long-lasting battery and the quick speed of charging with the regular adapter provided. Everything runs fast and I have zero complaints about lag of any kind.

Speakers are even louder than I thought they'd be and the sound is very good. I came from a budget phone and this is definitely a high-end product experience. The only cons I could find is that the front facing camera has no LED flash and isn't wide-angle; and that the video recording hasn't EIS electronic image stabilization or OIS optical image stabilization so it can get shaky.

All-in-all I truly believe this is a no-brainer for the price. Go for it and try it yourself. I attached some pics taken with the rear camera of the phone.

The first three are in portrait mode and the others aren't nor do any of them have HDR on. The Android O update came in yesterday and it improves several aspects of the phone such as the battery life, smoother animations and best of all now it has support for Quick Charge.

I guess we'll have to wait for an official quick charger from Xiaomi to come out, but I suppose it could work with any from other brands. Comment people found this helpful.

Was this review helpful to you? It's great, I love it, exactly what most people need out of a phone and more. Stock Android is fast and smooth, the updates are nice as well. Performance has never slowed down and calls work just fine in my area suburbs, t mobile.

When the volume is extremely low, you can hear a static noise if you are in a very quiet room. Also, when sounds are at a volume even lower than extremely low, they might get cut out altogether.

However, the volume has to be very low, and if you use decent headphones then the problem doesn't exist at all. First update messed some things up, but they were fixed in the most recent update.

Front facing selfie camera is not that good. Everything else about this phone is exceptional. The only reason you shouldn't get this phone is if you take a lot of selfies.

The sound problems only take effect when the sound is below practical volume and you are using the speaker. Performance is great and you can run pretty much any app or game.

It doesn't support Verizon or Sprint though, so that's one thing to note. All in all probably the best phone you can buy at this price point. Comment 15 people found this helpful. Liked phone for features however, has calling issues.

Seller, Amazon and USA manufacture support could not help. US support said phone not released in USA yet. Second phone with calling issue. I purchased from two different sellers. I returned both phones.

Comment 14 people found this helpful. While overall I really like this phone I returned it and am giving it two stars. When I first got the phone a week ago I thought it was excellent for the price point.

It's stylish, 4 gigs ram and 64 gigs storage at about the same price as the honor 7 3 gig and 32 and the moto g5 plus 2 gb and Nice clean interface and the phone is very fluid in it's operation.

So what's not to like right. Well the phone started to have a problem about the third day of use with the sound. When you make a call the party on the other end cannot hear you. Happened numerous times with assorted people.

If you call with the speaker on they can hear you and if you take it off speaker they can still hear you. But if you just make a regular call no go. Went online to do some research and found that this is a problem with xiaomi phones and there appears to be no corrective measure or fix.

I contacted amazon thank goodness for them. I really do like amazon Lol and they gave me an rma number for this phone and another one that I received 2 days ago although I didn"t open that one told you I really liked it and both cases all returned for a full refund.

The amazon customer rep gave me xiaomi's US number and I called them to see if they could possibly assist me with a software fix before I returned the phone. While the lady was very polite she stated that currently xiaomi does not have a US phone division at this time Thus no US warranty and these are global version phones which I knew as it's clearly stated when I bought it they do not have tech support for them.

If they ever fix this issue I would purchase this phone again without a doubt. Too bad xiaomi you coulda been a contender. Comment 31 people found this helpful. See all 99 reviews.

Basically the cables above your neck should be rubber which can transfer noise to the earphones whereas the neck and under should be all covered in braided cables meaning you can move and tuck it under the shirt with no noise transferring to the earbuds.

How is the camera going Zeral — especially for low light with moving objects or people? I don't really care much for the camera but best to just show it since I'm too noob at it.

Random LG v20 shots https: For the PS3, 1 was auto and 1 was manual mode in bed, and the last black white photo is really small, about the size of the hand and can see good detail with good lighting.

It's gonna be really hard to upgrade from this Just adding this from a reddit user I'm going to buy one I called JB and they won't do pre order unless there's demand for it and every phone you pre order usually needs full payment I can't see a problem really I don't Apple and Pixel doesn't interest me I didn't like the edge and I loved the note 7.

I could understand a deposit but Aint paying the full price! I hadn't realised it was going to be released in Australia. I'm not so excited about the removable back as I've had bad experiences with these before.

Swappable battery is cool though. Guess I'll have to try one in a shop. Being JB-Hifi exclusive doesn't bode well for competitive pricing either. Any idea how long this is likely to last?

I need to know how long this is going to last also, I need make sure its not getting any bootlooping. HK 2yr warranty if preorder and register: I'm disappointed by the ips screen.

It has that mirror reflection affect when tilting the phone abit along with the light bloom from the corner in the dark. It's becoming more noticeable after a weeks of use since tilting the phone is unintentional and bound to happen especially when typing and moving the phone abit.

If they make an AMOLED version of this, I'd buy it right away but they'll have to somehow update the second display from screen burning and program some sort of animation without draining too much battery The screen is my only real complaint otherwise I would have called this the perfect phone that did everything right.

I just hope JB and LG don't do just one initial drop with the limited stock and won't bring anymore here? I love the fact that it's large but it's weight is well distributed throughout the phone.

To me, the V20 has an understated elegance about it. Think of the Note 7 as a fashion model both are amazing hot and beautiful except one has a tendency to explode figuratively and the other They're nice to look at but they won't catch your eye as quickly as a model.

Once you get to know them however, you'll be surprised as to how much they can do. On to more phone-y business, I love the design of the removable back. It's solid aluminum and adheres well to the overall body of the V You wouldn't even be able to tell that the back is removable when you first lay eyes on it.

Its removable battery cover was poorly designed: The V20 can also take up to 2TB of MicroSD storage, a pretty handy feature as it allowed me to use my gb microsd card from the Note 7 preorder from Optus.

Coming from the Note 7 and the Meizu Pro 5, I got a little thrown off by the placement of the fingerprint scanner: I kept touching the LG logo on the front absentmindedly while setting it up.

Also, it's a minor niggle but if you block the fingerprint scanner by laying the phone on its back for a while and decide to pick it up, the finger print scanner is disabled and you have to unlock it by other means: I can only assume LG did this to prevent accidental unlocks in your pants It's got less immersive blacks and lesser contrast, something that bothered me at first since my wallpapers are usually black and white images.

But for an LCD screen, it's pretty amazing. It's much more saturated than my HTC One M8's screen and has slightly wider viewing angles on the off chance you're peeping at your phone from the side while your friend borrows it to take wide angle shots with the camera.

But the screen can be a little cold in colour temperature, and it's something that the Pro 5 and Note 7 would allow you to change from within their settings. Of course, there's also the issue of screen-burn, something that's a major issue for AMOLED screens admittedly that's only going to be an issue after years?

Out of the box, you'll be asked to download several LG apps and KT apps such as: It's easy enough when you have none. Nougat on the V20 runs smooth as butter. Both the Pro 5 and the Note 7 tended to exhibit lags every now and then think multitasking or even just pulling down the notification panel but the V20 has had none of them so far except when I was updating or downloading numerous apps when setting up the V The split-screen function is pretty easy to access: Some apps don't support this so you might have to dig into developer settings to force all apps to be in multi-window mode I've not tried this yet in case I cross the streams.

And there's also Google In apps search: I've yet to use it but i can see how it'll become useful. The second screen is pretty useful, I've put my music controls up there, a tab for my most used apps, and quick settings.

There's no LED notification light on the V20 so the second screen is a replacement for that. Leave it on to see notifications when your phone is locked though it does drain the V20's battery slightly.

There's also a signature tab for you to write your name or whatever else you want and the first character of your signature becomes an element in the signature lockscreen wallpaper if you choose that option.

There's also some theming features: I'm now on the Black Bold theme so everything in the UI is black with light gold for toggles. You can download more from LG Smartworld but so far the themes that I've seen are pretty cartoonish.

There's a blue theme I could see myself using if I ever go on a cruise again just to put myself in a nautical mood. Overall, I'm really pleased with the software, though you will have to disable all the KT apps; there's 4 of them I think.

Nougat just works; something I couldn't say with the Pro 5. It was a Chinese phone that I had to install Google apps onto and it worked fine mostly but when it didn't Imagine loading up Gmail or any other app that required Google Play Services and being greeted with a screen that said "Google Play Services is not supported on the model by your manufacturer".

When Google Play Services malfunctioned on the Pro 5, all you could do with the phone was call, or text and hope that it'll work again. That's the issue with buying Chinese phones I suppose: So no Google Now, Android Pay etc etc.

Also, the Pro 5's native apps kept giving me random ads about new releases in the Music store, video store, games store, promotions on Meizu phones, random lucky draws?

And there was even an ad about buying a Meizu M3 Max because and this is a translation "the Note 7 is exploding! Time to get a new big-screen phone in your life that doesn't explode".

Good advertising but I don't need it from my phone. So it was a relief to see all the Google apps work well on the V20 and without any weird advertising. Manual mode is fantastic on the V20 and lowlight performance might suffer as compared to a DSLR as photos will get grainy but you could always get a mini mobile tripod and set your shutter speed to a lower setting for beautiful long exposure shots.

For normal night shots, it's not too bad for a phone. The Wide angle mode is pretty awesome, kinda like having a Go Pro in your phone and it's just fun taking wide angle shots note: The distortion of the lens makes people appear And there's focus peaking!

Image quality in daylight shooting is great and images turn out sharp. I've yet to use the video mode but I have poked into it and it's really comprehensive. Low output on headphones and average performance overall.

With my Sennheiser Momentum 2. The V20 has a Quad-Dac that it's internal software adjusts based on the impedance of your headphones for those who don't know, impedance means how much power is needed to drive your headphones.

Most consumer headphones have an impedance of 32ohms and less. My momentums have an impedance of 18 ohms, pretty low as far as headphones go so plugging in a headphone of 49ohms and less triggers the "Normal Audio Device" mode while anything above 50ohms triggers the "High Impedance mode" which most likely drains your battery a lot faster.

Activating the Hifi-Quad Dac mode on the V20 also enables the 75 step volume control allowing for finer volume control. When I turn off Hifi-mode, the bass is pretty thumpy, and the soundstage is congested, and vocals are less clear.

Songs that have many layers to it like the Resistance from Muse feel like the audio equivalent of a smashed sandwich: In addition, volume levels drop significantly. When you activate the Quad-Dac though, the soundstage is significantly improved think small recording studio to hall levels of soundstage rather than the band being right in front of you performing right in front of your face, instrument separation is exquisite being able to locate where all the instruments are on a stage: I generally have a problem with the fit of earphones, which is why I prefer headphones.

How will your V20 survive if you cry spontaneously on it after hearing a beautiful classical music piece through your headphones? I hope you post your thoughts after using it for a week or two as well, especially on battery life.

Thanks for that thorough run-down darrellc4! We seem to share similar taste in phones. V20 is almost perfect to replace my Note 4, although I'd prefer it to be about 1cm less in height. Now to wait until the price becomes reasonable like G5's has.

Actually one question — is the screen nice and flat? So sick of curved glass giving screen protector adhesion issues Well, the glass does curve at the top and bottom of the screen towards the downward sloping chin and forehead of the V20 but it's very, very slight.

Screen protectors shouldn't have a problem. I just ordered a screen protector that covers the entire glass front of the V20, will post more on that when I get it! I definitely will Jammin.

By the way, there's been posts going around on Reddit about 8 hours of Screen-on time, but after I looked at it, it was just referring to the amount of time that has been used on battery power.

To ascertain Screen-On Time on the V20, you'll have to click on the specific tabs below that show your battery usage broken down into apps and other power-consuming components. I'll probably get one of these once it comes down in price, especially if the battery life is ok.

Oh wow that will be great. I suppose it will be something like these: Curious about the NFC sensor placing. How does it work through the metal back? As a consequence, you can't see the screen while you tap.

I took a gamble and bought a hbs before confirming aptx hd was available, turns out it payed off: Otherwise I would've cried since I already had the s lol. For those of you who are lucky enough to be using this beast, could you tell me if the battery is Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer?

I'm going to want an aussie version for the 2yr warranty. These appear to be isolated and loops happen on all manufacturers. I think these models will support most of our 4G bands.

Sounds like the same model we will be getting. Impedance of 64 ohms so the V20 activated its high impedance mode. One word to describe the audio quality: The soundstage has been extended even further, bass hits harder without being exaggerated, clarity has been further boosted without being overly bright and painful on the ears.

It's going to be hard to use the V20 in 'Normal Audio Device' mode from now on, especially with my lower impedance headphones. It's not too bad for a hybrid case, nice design and all but it does make the V20 seem a lot bulkier than it actually is.

Hoping to receive my Poetic Affinity case in the mail soon. I think g4 bootloop is common but any other devices not so. I am a long time LG user both G series and nexus only had issue with G4.

Im going to wait until local release until pulling trigger only 2 weeks away, but always feels like forever when you are ready to buy a phone now. That would also explain why it is dual-SIM, something almost unheard of in Australia.

Especially with the possibility of boot loop issues and shattered camera covers. Hopefully they also include the Screen Replacement Offer like the G5. Make sure you leave the OEM camera glass protection on as that looks like a weak spot.

The glass shatters easily if scratched. I wouldn't pay any more than that for a set of headphones. By decent, I mean anything that isn't Apple Earpods though to be fair, they are pretty decent for free earphones, just that you won't be doing the V20's abilities justice by using them.

I ordered mine last Sunday and it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Can't wait to test out my 15 year old Sennheiser HD on it haha. Hope you'll enjoy using it as much as I have so far. Also, did you order the Korean version?

Was pretty disappointed with the G5 which I thought would be my replacement. This looks the goods though! Only worry I have is the size. Anyone else went from a 'normal' sized phone to a 'phablet' and can share their experience?

Phone definitely quicker than the Note 7 with the Snapdragon cpu. Going to fully setup and post an in-depth review later. I hope I dont upset anyone in here but just wondering if anyone had both the V20 and the pixel XL and which they preferred?

I don't think you'll upset anyone but this is a v20 thread so I can only presume what the responses will be: I've got the V20 and my Nokia has XL pixels. Definitely prefer the V But in all seriousness though, I think the V20 and Pixel XL represent two different approaches to devices: No fuss, no frills.

I like the idea of having tonnes of features in my phone: DAC, camera with comprehensive manual controls, secondary screen etc etc. Your preferred choice is dependent on what you're looking for in a phone and what you aim to get out of it.

I'm waiting to see if any variants will be allowed to unlock the bootloader. If they release a European open market variant, that'll probably be it. It's not as slippery as a glass-backed phone like the S7 Edge or Note 7 but because the glass of the screen extends to the side, it might be a little slippery depending on how you hold it.

The picture in that link shows you what I mean. Does the Korean model have dual sim like the one we are meant to be getting here at JB soon. Oh cool — yes i had my Note 7 naked and was ok with it so if not as slippery as that then ok.

Only difference is the size. Oh and is the weight balance ok? The V10 balance was really good which meant it didn't feel as heavy as it was as its weight was distributed well. Perhaps I could understand if the Australian-sold model was not only way more expensive, but also the only variant that supports our bands — but you can grey import multiple H variants from overseas..

Z7 headphones with the V I never bothered using mine with any portable device, only use it through my dedicated dac lol. Hmm I wasn't considering this at all cause I actually prefer unibody built in battery, and LG never stood out on design or build quality.

Might check this out if or when it goes on display. Yes i'm with Voda so i have no problem. Saying that though, usually it is just lack of B28 which isn't really much of an issue at all.

Most people don't even notice they don't have it even with Telstra or Optus. I've just joined the band wagon, from what I have researched the V20 is as close as I can get to my old very missed Note 7.

Started to order cases, screen protector and desk top chargers from eBay only because from the run around Im getting from JB HiFi Ill be lucky if they even get the phone in let alone accessories!

Can't really blame JB, it's LG Australia that is lacking in details since the decision to launch the V20 in Australia was a last minute call, presumably designed to cater for the Note7 refugees like yourself.

LG Australia doesn't even have it on their own website yet, they have only announced it with very little details on the LG facebook page. Just figured out how to fool the V20 into using high impedance mode for all headphones.

You'll need a headphone splitter, or male to female 3. Just plug that in first, and then plug in your headphones. This fools the V20 into thinking you've connected an external audio device which enables High Impedance mode.

If you don't want to buy additional cables etc, if your headphones or earphones have detachable cables, just remove your headphones from their cables, plug in the cable and then your headphones once you've connected your cable into your phone.

I'll pass the V20 for this: Xiaomi Mi Mix https: Why not a bezel free phone then? Looks like it's not being released outside of China. And even if you could import one it's missing at least 4G Band 28 and maybe others too.

The Mi Mix is a gorgeous phone. I'm just wary about purchasing a Chinese phone again, especially since my Meizu Pro 5 had many issues with Google's services. Hopefully the Mi Mix will be better!

I have to agree there. Chinese phones are not exactly reliable. For instance, my Nexus 6P was replaced twice in 6 months! On the other hand, the G4 I've got on launch day suffered of boot loop Can't blame me I'm cautious and confused right now: Here's my review after using the phone for an entire day.

Lots of comparison with the Note 7 where I'm switching from. Popped in my gb microsd card thank you Samsung Note 7 preorder gift. Build quality is great, metal back feels nice, 5. Display quality is great V20, I would say it's more colour accurate versus an amoled screen from Note 7 which has more "pop".

I had it on auto brightness, I noticed going in and out the building it was pretty quick to adjust the brightness where the LG G4 I had before would take a few seconds to catch up.

Having the fingerprint sensor on the back is not a big issue for me, I'm used to the LG phones as mentioned where the control buttons are on the back of the phone. I've taken selfies, landscape etc and from what I can see, it's on par with Samsung Note 7 and iPhone 7 plus which is going back to Apple this Friday, can't stand it.

I love the focus peek feature. Audio is one of the touted feature of this phone and it delivers. Built in speaker is fairly loud but as you can expect, nothing to write home about. Performance is pretty good, it's funny because I started with the Note 7 AU version with Exynos CPU which was pretty good, then when I returned that after the first recall I went to Macau for holiday and bought the Snapdragon version Coral Blue and performance of it was less than great as it lags on a few occasion, LG V20 has been flawless so far, haven't noticed any lag at all, loaded a few games such as Clash Royale where the Snapdragon Note 7 had minor issues with but not with the V In saying that, iPhone 7 plus was still noticeably faster our of the 3 mobiles.

I'm using Telstra prepaid, Korean model does not support band B28, I rarely go outside of metro area so it's not an issue for me, V20 was connected to LTE all the time for me. Buying a mobile from eBay doesn't bother me too much, having the piece of mind buying local for warranty is great but after dealing with local warranty I'm looking at you HTC, never ever I will buy HTC again, only one I trust after seeing other posts on this forum from other manufacturer is Apple.

Thanks for your initial impressions sounds promising. The DAC from all I've read lives up to the hype. Really wish I hadn't bought my G5. Don't get me wrong, I love it and it works flawlessly but it's so hard to resist the V20 and it feels too soon to upgrade again.

Also at android-enjoyed now, although I've only heard BAD things about them. Hey does this one include the missing band 28 which everyone is saying is important?

This video got me thinking. Apparently V10 might be a better, more straightforward audio solution. Hopefully a few updates can cure the glitches. I think they are planning to do something soon with in response to Optus etc.

I messaged LG Australia, just to see if they knew anything, their response has me slightly excited. While unfortunately we don't have an immediate answer to offer on the subject, do stay tuned for more info about this soon.

My Asus Zenfone 3 likes to hang on to the strongest signal at the time, rather than the higher frequency bands. This results in a lower download speed than other phones would have, but it would be great on Telstra.

After that experience I'm thinking my next phone will be something that is officially released in Australia thereby properly supported by our networks. Fairly disappointing review on The Verve http: Main thing seems to be its size.

Mine should arrive tomorrow and I have always used all phones one handed and without a case so will see how i go. I really liked the always on display on the Note 7 but the 2nd screen on V20 takes it to another level.

Battery lasts me an entire day, usually off the charger at 7: It's well worth it for me until the next best thing out next year. I don't really get the reviewer's issue with the size but love of the iPhone 7 Plus which is only about 1.

I am waiting til I can get one in hand before deciding for sure. They looked it up though and confirmed it's arriving on the 8th and even had 3 pre-orders for it. Of more concern is that the launch is 1 week away today and still no details on the LG Australia web site or Facebook page on specs or inclusions — we only have various third party news stories to go on.

I hope this is a real launch and not just dropping units by stealth to see what happens. The review seemed very biased towards the Pixel and the iPhone, both of which are true blue consumer phones phones that have the bare minimum that consumers want and work without needing much input from the owner.

The reviewer also seemed to be dismissive of the DAC on consumer headphones which is bull. I've tried the V20's DAC with low impedance headphones and with the Note 7 and could immediately tell the difference: I have a feeling it's just the reviewer's confirmation bias at work.

The only sticking point was the lack of an app drawer but that's easily remedied. As for the claimed lack of battery life, I've been getting 4 hours of screen on-time consistently.

Which is similar to what other flagships phones have been achieving too when I had my Note 7 for 3 days. For those who like to play with custom ROMs and do full back up's etc. No confirmation yet that the Australian version has an unlockable bootloader.

And current root way through the Dirty Cow exploit is damn tricky. But yes in theory hopefully soon we may be able to get it. Frosty has managed to pick one up early from JB Hi-Fi. He's been kind enough to answer some questions and post some pics in the other thread: Sold off my Samsung S7 Edge for the V10 purely for the fantastic words it had in terms of it's audio quality.

Though it had a processor that is older than that on S7 vs, reports and reviews indicated no difference in performance. Ordered the V10 and unfortunately had a defective piece delivered by DWI.

The legend of horrible DWI experience followed, but thankfully, having paid through Paypal, I got a full refund. In the mean time, the LG V20 arrived the scene. Ordered a Korean model Silver SK telecom model.

Having received the phone and after a day this is what I have to report:. Build Quality — Solid. This phone is built to last, not necessarily to please. In saying so, not having a waterproof chassis would be missed.

But then, on the plus side of it, you can swap batteries. My vote will still go for the V10 for the beautiful rubberised grip the phone had. Holding a big phone in your hand can be daunting, but the V10 made it possible because of the grippy chassis.

With this one, even though the phone is slightly smaller, one would not have the same degree of confidence for single hand operation than the V Specs — Well, they are some of the best. Moreover, LG seems to spend a bit more time in performance tuning.

This phone has topped the Pixel even though Pixel has better specs. In saying so, some of the apps are to my liking. Luckily, LG doesn't load all the apps by default, but lets you decide for some of the apps.

Having said that SK telecom have installed some of their apps on top and these are hard to get rid off. Samsung has a winner in it's screen, no doubt and it produces some of the best colors, but I find the colors on this one to be more realistic.

In saying so, the Youtube Red on the V20 is so Red that it can actually hurt you. It literally falls into purple territory or feels like that. Having said that, colors are still not as vibrant and unrealisitic as on the S7 Edge.

Depending on one's own preference, the default color settings may need a tad bit of tweaking. Audio — What can I say.. That includes the iPods, numerous MP3 players and every other mobile phone out there.

This in itself justifies percent of the price. The only thing holding me back between this and the S7 Edge is the camera on the V20 — so how is it with low light, moving targets think children, focus speed and the speed it takes a picture from when you press the shutter?

Read the reviews, but don't trust half of them compared to real world experience, and with you coming off the S7E — I don't think I could get a more fairer review User Interface and experience — As long as you want to open an app and work with it, it is fine.

Can be issues if you want to change something. Some of the UX aspects are a tad irritating. In the music app, the volume control button is on the bottom left corner, when you click on it, the volume control bar appears on top of the screen and stays on the screen for about a couple of seconds.

Multiple niggles like that continue to hinder the operation of the phone. Minor irritants specific to the Korean Build not sure of others — How does one get rid of the Korean text — It can be seen on the Phone dailer though not a hindrance, Upgrade notifications from LG just click the buttons intuitively.

This is an aspect that I would suggest others in the forums to be careful about — Hong Kong Version may have Chinese instead of Korean. Having said that, this has never been a hindrance, more of an irritant.

Ditto regarding the clock display on the Lock Screen — Displays two clocks — One for Australia and another for Korea — I am not in Korea and the phone doesn't have a menu to close the korean clock off — Anti Android!!

The legend of horrible DWI experience followed. Amazing that having been through this once that you would do it again. Having used the camera on both these, well, to begin with, they are vastly different.

S7 Edge uses an exceptionally high and heavy handed approach on post processing. So, if you zoom the photos, especially those taken in Low Light, the watercolor effect is evident. In saying so, it is a fantastic point and shoot camera that has some sense to it — As a enthusiast photographer, I desist the megapixel race.

Samsung has done the right thing with S7 Edge. It is a very good point and shoot camera, which is what a phone camera has to be. LG has gone ahead and mimicked an SLR.

It is an exceptionally versatile camera that is much, much and much more than a point and shoot camera. This phone breaks the limits of a camera on a mobile phone and does that quite well. LG takes a less radical approach to post processing and you tend to see a little bit on noise in low light photos, but that is better than the water color effect.

A big tick again!! So, how does one decide — Well, in simple terms, if you are a point and shoot user, you will be happy with either of them. S7 Edge will give you a fair degree of range to experiment.

LG V20 pushes the envelope and takes it to a whole new level. I would vote for the V20, not because of how versatile it is — trust me, I will be still in a discovery mode even after six months, but because it has better post processing attributes, unlike the samsung that throws a kitchen sink at noise reduction.

Some of these functions are also there on the S7 Edge, they are just extended more in the V To put in simple terms, DWI did the shoddy job of sending me a used, repaired V10, passing it off as new.

With most V20 stocks just rolling off the factory, I ordered from a different vendor. Chances of ending up with a used and repaired piece are not there as the V20 is released not more than a month ago when I bought it.

Thanks for the initial impressions Praskoll. The audio is what i am most looking forward to. To hear you saying best on a device ever gets me excited. Thanks for going further in-depth. The Note7 was darn good, a big step above my OnePlus One.

In Summary — A very unique proposition and an excellent phone that misses the top marks by a whisker thanks to the niggles in relation to the Ux. But then again, this one easily has the best audio quality.

No other manufacturer packs in the same quality of earpods as LG has done here. The best audio set-up on any portable audio solution with a headphone jack. Depends on personal taste really.

Apps and Layout — Samsung wins here. LG still has multiple niggles to iron out on the Ux front. Ux on the S7 Edge is better, much better and feels seamless. LG has a few niggles, though one may argue that these may be app specific, well, the Music app was developed by LG and the volume control on it will give a good exercise to your fingers.

Fingerprint Scanner — LG V Well, LG has fixed this one and it works much better than Samsung. The positioning of the scanner is just perfect as the index finger would land exactly on the scanner in a natural position of holding the phone.

It is faster too. V20 is a Cat12 LTE capable phone. Too much is said about the Mhz Band 28 capability. I see it as a mute point. Firstly Mhz gives better signal penetration and signal range, but then, speeds will be much slower.

Phone will be toggling down to 3G if it doesn't get LTE, which is not bad in itself as the level of consumption on 3G has come down and you will have acceptably decent download speeds onto your device, often comparable to 4G over Mhz.

Telecoms are pushing for Mhz because a it has freed up after the move to digital TV, so the infrastructure is already there and secondly, because it needs lesser towers for them as the signal has better range and penetration, albeit lesser speeds.

So, works in their favor for regional locations. It is also restrictive too — I cannot change the clock layout on the lock screen and it shows dual clock — Not a deal breaker, but annoying nevertheless.

I have downloaded a phone dialer app and made it default to get rid of the Korean text on the Phone Dialer, downloaded Google Keyboard to get rid of the Korean text on the Keyboard and it works exactly the way I want it to.

All in all, I am pretty happy and cannot really complain much. Is this better than the S7 Edge — Hard to say as some would still prefer for the seamless and elegant design over the industrial and robust design of the V In saying so, LG has goofed up big time by trying to mimick the G5 onto the V G5 was a colossal failure and they should have left it at that and continued with the design theme of the more successful V If only they stuck on to the V10's chassis.

This one is kind of middle ground. Clearly, you do have the SLR gene in you. Color reproduction is better and well saturated on the V The details are also better.

In saying so, I would not be recommending it to a point and shoot user, they would end up way too confused with the level of menus that are there on the V20, especially in the manual mode.

Unless you want to carry an amp around, which many people do and I don't find anything wrong with it, but then, it is yet another attachment to carry along. I have not seen any manufacturer provide quality headsets like LG has done here.

Those earphones by themselves are worth plus at Myers. But then again, there is an aspect of personal taste. Some people prefer heavy, very heavy bass — which is why Dr.

Dre is in business. This is the phone for an audiophile who believes in clarity, neutrality and a more linear sounding phone. Doubt I'd photograph any weddings on it, will keep that to the FF Nikon gear: However, thank you for your explanation and making my decision: You can disable this via an APP — google quickshortcut maker.

About the korean characters on the dialer screen, I was able to disable this as well on my previously owned LG G3 Olleh Korean model, I believe the localisation needs to be change, I might have been able to do this with root access which I believe is now available for the V Well it now all hangs on the announcement tonight of the Huawei Mate 9 Pro — if it has the specs to match, and a price to go with it, will head down that path Thanks for sharing this.

I tried this app and then went on to search for clock and then roaming and disabled roaming clock, it however, doesn't work. Still shows two clocks on the lock screen. Well it now all hangs on the announcement tonight of the Huawei Mate 9 Pro —.

Not sure whether it would match the audio quality of the V20 though. Huawei may up the ante in the rest of the specs and might as well by the second phone to feature SD Was able to fix rest of the issues.

This is the only hindrance really. I was able to change it early last week, gotta find the link that I followed, over a week now with multiple reboots, mine still showing single clock.

Would be really great if you can let me know what you did. If I can knock this one out, it is pretty much customised the way I want it to be. Open quickshortcut maker app Search for roaming Expand roaming and select Roaming Clock settings Click on "Try" in the middle and you should see the "Use roaming dual-clock" setting, untick the box.

Followed the exact process around 3 to 4 times. However, this doesn't work. I got FS ST version. Not sure if ST telecom moded this setting. I've never been so happy to have RAW files from my camera as I can fiddle with the photo to my heart's content on Snapseed.

In theory yes, but on my dual sim Note 7, I didn't notice any difference in battery usage compared to my AU Note 7 single sim model when I had it for a few weeks. OK thanks, I have 2 Telstra sims in my V20 now — lets see how it goes battery wise over the next day or so.

It worked for me, FL. It never bothered me but thanks imolared for sharing. As annoying as this sounds "but have you tried turning it off and on again? My lockscreen wallpaper wont change without a reboot last time.

I have rebooted the phone multiple times, but it doesn't work. Sounds like a problem with FS. I have installed Secret Master Lite and found some location specific settings that are done by the telecom operator.

These can only be changed with SU access. So, unless I root the device, there is no respite. Thinking about whether to root or not. Seems like it is out already https: I just called at about 4: Picked it up last night, no problems.

They had 2 left as of last night. They don't have any demos yet for anyone who still wants to play before committing, that might take a few weeks or might not happen at all given the low volume of the launch so far.

Only had it a short time and am coming from a 2. So I'm biased but wow, the V20 is incredibly fast and smooth. Well with very little from Huawei other than the 5. So disappointing that the Note7 really was a great phone and not many others come that close to it Can users of the new V20 comment on the real life battery life stats.

I know lg is not particularly good in the battery department. From lg G3 to G5 v10 battery is was so so from various reviews. I can see at least 7 users here in WP with a v20 and it be nice if you could share your battery life stats.

But I think anecdotal opinions are not that useful as a comparison. You'll probably learn more from something like this where you can directly compare under comparable circumstances with other phones:.

I really don't think it can be all that helpful to be honest. Battery SOT depends on so many factors that are often nothing to do with the phone: All to do with an individual users unique set up.

Does anyone know if you can edit or rearrange the quick settings toggle on the second screen or is it hard-coded by lg software. For example I would like to remove the Bluetooth toggle and replace it with GPS or nfc or screen timeout.

Does anyone know if you can edit or rearrange the quick settings toggle. Just long press any of the toggles. But the only extra one not shown by default is Camera. Hopefully they release more in updates.

You can rearrange the quick setting toggle on the second screen but it is limited to: I must say, I'm slightly disappointed with the battery life as it drains extremely quickly..

I consider myself to be quite savvy with optimizing phones as I used to tinker a lot with voltages and governors back in the day of custom roms.. The battery drains approximately 3.

I took it off charge this morning at 7am and by Anyone recommend a good screen protector — not too fussed with temp glass, just something to give it some scratch protection.

I've seen reports of some that can't deal with the curve on the screen, so something that covers the entire phone including the top screen would be good? I started my hunt last weekend here in Sydney.

No one has heard of the phone from the usual suspects including the shops at Paddy's market, though one stall said that he has ordered some screen protectors and cases but it wouldn't be in for another few weeks.

The one I bought from eBay shipped from Hong Kong tempered glass was crap, lifting on all sides. I ordered TPU cases as well but it hasn't arrived. Using it naked with a crap screen protector at the moment which is not ideal.

I've ordered one of these, just because it's local and should arrive pretty quickly. Screen protectors, I left the stock one on until I can get something better. Haven't found a local source for that yet and would rather not wait for overseas shipping.

Any of you guys know what model the headphones that come in the box with the phone from JB Hifi are? As for screen protectors, for the odd time I accidentally put my keys in the same pocket as my phone — its nice to know they wont scratch the glass I've seen this happen before, but mine are always protected.

Just bought this about 30mins ago. Have been trying to decide between this, Pixel and the Edge. Thought I'd give LG a go this time around. I just went on the JB website and punched in my post code and it simly listed the stores locally that had stock.

I noticed this when the second LCD is on max. Frosty posted a photo of his here: They are some specially produced one for this deal. After listening for a while with this "no model" earphone, I actually think it is pretty decent.

Still wound take my 1A over this all the time. But it is not a bad backup choice for summer hot days. As far as I know, it takes a nano sim and an SD card. Can't see anywhere else where it takes another sim card.

Ie, there is no separate listing for the V20, so it would default to 12 months. Could this be an omission? There is plenty of precedent to show that minimum warranty for a mobile under Australian law item must be "fit for use" should be 2 years anyway.

The main sim card is under the micro sim and sim slot 2 is to the right edge of the phone casing. Anyone else not able to see their 2. I'm using Nova Prime 5. Apparently it has a bunch of Nougat fixes so maybe try and get that.

Hit the 3 dots next to the toggles to configure displayed items. I turned signature off too as its kinda pointless. Does anyone know how to stop Nova Launcher double tap gesture override LG's double tap to turn off?

It still works on the position of notification bar, but kind of annoying. I would like to know this too. I'm using action launcher and double tapping is not working. Archive View Return to standard view.

No i think this will launch global. LG banged up bad with the G5 sales where less than v This might be there last chance to stay relevant. I've never been able to work out if LG Australia is unable or unwilling to compete properly here, either they don't get the support from Korea to do it properly or they just aren't interested in growing their mobile business in Australia But it does work out well because I often buy LG phones because they are good quality and drop massively in price very quickly so you get a great deal only a few months after launch assuming they actually launch within a few months of announcing them, they're terrible at getting stock out in a reasonable timeframe.

Hummm maybe I should change telco. It's up to to LG to weigh up the business case-whether it would impact sales of other LG models. Because the powers at be likely decide that demand isn't there V20 Renders I don't hate it but it is a bit G5ish and that didn't seem to do well sales wise, also is there really no way to produce a phone these days with a decent camera that doesn't have the camera bump?

I'm a bit confused on the V vs G lines The V series is 5. Renders show reduced bezel size compared with the G5. The V series is 5. Seems like the V line is more my style.

You'll Never Walk Alone. Just hope it lives up to the hype. Will I have to buy a grey import? Is this stock Android? I've had the LG G2,3,4 and now 5 and never had any issues.

Really looking forward to seeing what the V20 has to offer. ZTE axon 7, best front facing speaker? Moto z force, jbl module! FFS if that is correct G5 has type c and V series is a step above you misread my comment, i know it has type c connector but its only usb 2.

Are you in WA? Melbourne, countdown timer shows 11 hrs 30mins remaining as of now for me. And the day after that is playstation conference! Very excited to see what the specs will be.

I really like the way LG thinks but the way they apply and implement them have gone wrong. But otherwise if all the bootloops Hahaha Then I can't indulge myself until 6pm: Hands on Looks great!

Otherwise looks pretty good. Wonder what the width and height of the phone is. Pocketnow hands on https: Yeah was hoping for rumoured mah battery but? Disappointing as the rest looks good.

Android Authority, quick with the drop test https: The always on display was really dark hard to see as well I will rewatch some battery tests later tonight, must head out now: I was considering the g5 at first but then the battery was too puny just get the cam plus its a nice enough battery pack?

V series seems to be for enthusiasts, whereas the G is more general public fare. Similar to the G and the G Pro series. Would have loved the Iris scanning tech on this.

On the G5 if you double tap with fingerprint security on it will ask for your pin. All of the Smart Lock options are also available to you: Now time to find what will be the best seller to buy it as a grey import.

But this has no scrutiny and would allow anyone to wake the device? It wakes then you enter your pin? Maybe similar results with a note 7 battery test?

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later. Standard Packaging Verified Purchase. I did a ton of research before I bought these. I even went to a local shop to compare them to others using my own sound check playlist.

The salesman looked at me funny but he let me do my thing. These were by far the best ones I heard, so I ordered them. I hooked them up to my alpine cde hdbt hu. The first thing I noticed was the tweeters seemed to be a little brighter in my truck and there was a sharp peak in the high-mids, around 6 to 8k.

Nothing a little eq work couldn't fix. Sometimes I like to really crank it though, and the 18w rms from the alpine wasn't enough. So, I wired them to an amp that's feeding them 75w rms each.

They're supposed to handle rms. You don't need that much. They sound great with the extra power. Fuller lows you will still need a sub for any real beef. You'll be hard-pressed to find components that hit super low because they are specifically designed to be augmented by a sub in most cases.

I have a pair of Polk dbdvc subs. I even flattened my eq because the highs are way flatter and tamed. I can't really put into words how amazing they sound when setup right.

I hear snares and runs on toms with amazing definition. Vocals sit just right. Acoustic and electric guitars, cymbals, horns, acoustic and electric bass, cellos and violins And this is in my poorly insulated Chevy truck with flowmaster super 40's I like to hear that v8 too ;- So here it is.

If you don't plan on putting these on an amp, don't get them, or at the very least install a 22uF cap across the tweeter posts at the xover to tame the high end.

You'd probably be better with the infinity ref cs as they are lower impedance and will be higher output per watt as a result. If you have or plan on an amp, these are it!

You should also treat your doors etc wherever you install them with dynamat or something similar for the best low end performance. These aren't the "best" but they are the best in class.

You can't beat the price either. You can get 2 sets here for less than you'd pay for 1 set at Fry's. I made a correction. Someone pointed out some info I had overlooked previously and they were absolutely right.

While in my opinion the Alpine SPSc's do sound good, they are not particularly well suited for use without an amp because of their low efficiency 88dB as compared to the Polk or Infinity 92dB.

These speakers have survived their first Phoenix summer, and one of the hottest on record no less. They continue to perform remarkably. My truck was totaled a few weeks ago so these found their way into my CVPI's front doors along with the alpine head unit.

Haven't gotten around to installing the amp or sub yet, but these speakers just keep sounding great. I also plan to get a second set for the rears when i get around to finishing the system in this new ride.

I would and will buy these again and again. Comment people found this helpful.
