Just received an email regarding this promotion so it looks like it's nationwide. The phone runs cool, much cooler than the ZTE MF91 dedicated pocket hotspot that I will probably now retire, presumably meaning that battery life will be solid. Does anyone else have the app 'preloaded widget' by martinwei on their y6 elite? 7 inch android phones how to unlock Optus or telstra is 6 moths. The Telstra chat operator said that it did have a removable battery then apologized and said no it doesn't have one and now insists that it doesn't.

Can cyanogenmod 13 be installed to get Marshmallow? I absolutely hate non stock android with lots of manufacturer customizations and crap. But neither support all our network frequencies like the Y6 and I find the build quality of ZTE and Alcatel handsets to be a notch below Huaweis at the same price point.

I've moved on from it now and have found something far more suitable for my needs. I use the paid version of "Missed call reminder" and find it far smoother, more stable and easier to setup for various situations using it's "profiles".

NoLed was OK, but it ran like a pig on my Samsung tablets, I tried tons of alternatives and was very relieved when I came across "Missed call reminder". As always, what suits my needs might be useless for others, but I do recommend that you give it a try.

My favourite unlocker is always available if the worst comes to pass. I didn't think this was right so I did a factory reset and sure enough Apps is now down to about MB and available space is now at 3.

The startup sound notification is quite shrill when being woken up. I suspect it cant be disabled, so I may resort to putting my phone on Airplane mode overnight and switching off the wifi setting.

The front and innards may be the same but the rear cover of the Y5 II looks different from that on the Y6 Elite. The rear cover is different, yet everything seems to be in the same place, so fingers crossed.

Its only a cheapy rigid plastic thing, so no harm done if it doesnt fit. Vodafone and Optus locked phones are locked to the network, so as Kogan use the Vodafone network it should work without unlocking. I have just purchased this phone from Coles and cannot find how to work the GPS.

I feel that the Y5 is similar or slighly better, so I guess its subjective. The Y5 is faster due to its faster processor. Both have an 8Mpixel rear camera, but the Y5 produces a better picture quality clearer.

You can activate without providing credit card details. I'll eventually pay up for the unlocking because I really like the phone, although the techies have faulted some of its specs I'm OK with that.

In the MyMix you can choose to max out data and to minimise calls, its not too bad overall. The unlocker I use said the last time the Huawei server was down it was for about 2 months, so all is not lost.

I have no idea what this app is for and cannot remove it. It can only be removed by a factory reset but it just returns later on. Did not like the Huawei launcher, so replaced it with the google-now one.

According to voda, it only stays active 1 month after the credit expires. Optus or telstra is 6 moths. If you want more, get a Kogan plan. Will work without unlocking. I will keep Kogan in mind.

It's probable that no two people have the same experience with any mobile device, and phones get used in such different ways by everyone. My wife has a Y which has been used daily for well over 2 years and it's as good as the day it was bought, same goes for my Y, it gets constant use and has been around the globe with me a couple of times this year with no scars to show for it.

I have a young friend mid twenties who thrashes his Y something rotten and can often be heard muttering "I want a new phone", but it never fails him and even when comparing what's out there at several times the price it is a hard beast to replace I give my old ones away.

I bought one of these today as a temporary stand in for my much loved Nexus 5x, which is away for repair. I needed a SIM spacer. The phone hardware is fine. Build quality is ok.

It works well and runs speedily. The camera is not great, a real step down from the Nexus. Problems I've had so far; The phone has some power management software baked into the stock build.

This keeps killing my running apps Spotify is not a battery hog — I'm actually using it. I'd much rather disable the power management sw, but I can't.

There is a local and non-syncing "Phone" calendar which new events default to instead of my normal google calendar. I know I'm going to miss an appointment soon.

You need to activate the sim in the Y6 and make the call from that phone. Antutu is showing it has bit Lollipop despite having a bit processor. And note that the upgrade makes a chunk of onboard storage inaccessible and I needed to do a hardware reset to get it back. But newer handsets with the extra box that mentions the gift card seem to come with the latest firmware already installed.

Linux will use the extra for cache, buffering etc. Android will only unload apps when needed. OK I've installed the newest update and lost a bunch of internal storage.

But can't see any culprits this time. I saw some members jail broke their Y6 to remove bloat, but I'd like to try less dramatic methods first Adware, tasker, pretty much everything that requires root works.

This was the one thing holding me back from getting rid of my Y! Thanks for the guide. I took me a while to sort the root out, but it was worth while when deleting the bloat apps.

This is my first smartphone, seemed reasonable value, but if I'd been aware of this hassle probably would've looked elsewhere. I have to manually manage which apps have focus depending on what can survive in the background and what can't.

Despite using the Protected App system. I also don't care for the way the storage becomes inaccessible when on the charger. Unless you change tones frequently, you can copy your ring tones to onboard storage to avoid this.

I had already installed my favourite apps before the uninstalling the junk so I can't say for sure, maybe MB. That was the google movies and games stuff and music player. Some Huawei Hicare were small apps and two small Vodafone apps.

Huawei keyboard is 60MB but I am worried about not having a backup keyboard. I was just using Ghost Commander in root mode and there was still traces of google music and movies around so I don't think No Bloat fully removed all the apps.

I noticed that "Protected Apps" says it only protects from being killed when sleeping. Finally, can clean up the system with "optimize" — I get to it from the file navigator orange icon, might be in one of the tools folders; I've rearranged and forgot where it cam from.

I notice in my System Updates app history that code is quoted at the end of the failure message. Power down phone, while holding the volume up power the phone up and it should enter recovery menu, use the volume buttons to select wipe cache, after that finishes reboot and try update again.

I received my amaysim sim today and can confirm tethering doesn't work with any sim except for a Telstra one. So i just got this phone for a family member and ended up doing the update, however now it seems to of removed the bluetooth smart function.

Any idea how i can get it back? The device they use requires this. It did work before the update too which seems even weirder. Maybe we can try it on our phones to see if the same issue exist after updating.

I no longer have the phone with me and they won't tell me the app for some reason? Just told her to keep it for a couple days and see if it changes, otherwise work something out.

I have two of theses phones one updated, one I haven't yet, using this app it confirms the updated phone doesn't support BLE, while the non updated one does show as working. They probably don't want to in case any issues arise rolling back to a previous version, sucks they don't provide full firmware roms, as it limits development.

I have been very busy working out the issue with the team. Ok we have it sorted and understand the issue now. Two problems occurred at the same time. I was testing using a Jawbone UP2 — Jawbone broke their app and we broke the handset Bluetooth 4 function some how at the same time with the update of firmware as you correctly told us.

What confused me was that the new Jawbone UP2 app also had an issue at the same time as our handset update was released and it wasn't until I swapped the UP2 for a Fitbit Charge that I found that the Buzz update had broken BT4.

Glad it's being sorted. I downloaded and tried it and get the same error, Samsung allshare uses DLNA, the app must be detecting something and thinks it is allshare, try contacting foxtel re the app giving false allsare warning.

Obtain root using kingroot, then replace kingroot with supersu following the instructions on the link for the script. If you didn't want to keep root it can be removed via supersu once you have made any changes.

Blue tick is a Telstra certification for devices that have an especially good ability to get reception on their network. Performance is OK but i find the screen slightly laggy, My 3yr old Note 2 feels faster but then again that was also a flagship phone in its day.

I found that it outperforms my Note 4 in general use. That has more to do with Samsung version of Android than the hardware. It also has the advantage of a lower resolution screen.

The phone performance is great, battery life is excellent. So you can't expect it to be fantastic at that price. From memory only Fat I know of one user with a G microSD card formatted to Fat32 and is happy. Telstra shops or Telstra chat or calling them should relsove that tho. Definitely go in store if you can, they should be able to replace the sim on the spot.

If you can't get in, I expect chat will suggest effectively porting the number from the old sim to the new one, which will take however long porting takes, but allow use of the number on the old phone until the new one gets active.

I was in the same case as you, I originally had a standard sized sim and needed a micro for this phone. Went into a Telstra shop, showed them the old sim, provided ID that I owned it, and they just transferred everything to the new sim.

Did you find out if it is working with mhz or not? I don't think there are any tools on android for 3g, but for lte there are a few. A way around this would probably be to check if your phone still locks onto 3G inside a shopping center with thick walls.

Yes, it is a perfect fit. To charge, you simply need to open the cover, the charging port is on the LHS and has a cutout in the holder. Hit Settings button bottom right. Choose Save location SD card.

I haven't had a chance to test it out yet. However when I was playing around with the phone that night, I disabled all bands except for Mhz and set the phone to wcdma only. The phone couldn't get any signal at all and kept disconnecting from amaysim service.

Every sound on the phone still works, but the ring doesnt Unlock sounds, playing music all no problem but when you ring the phone it just vibrates. If you try to select a ring tone, no sound comes out as the demo either.

Fixes itself with a reboot. I've been using my Buzz since July? It's now done it twice more, despite sound working perfectly after a reboot for 24 hours or so not sure how long it takes to fail.

Short version seems two things are driving the difference in networks between the Nexus and the ZTE. I think this implies the ZTE has a smaller aerial or receiver capability than the Nexus. The Buzz Mhz performance may be so good that it is ignoring the 4G signal, or as you suggest the 4G signal may be suppressed by less than optimal antenna design???

It would be interesting if you could move to a location where both phones are connected to the 4G tower and rinse and repeat the tests. I love this phone but Im getting frustrated using it with Boost, should be fast with 4G my windows one was.

Admittedly I don't use Facebook on the device but I've not had issues with connectivity anywhere. Yep, you cannot complain about those speeds. My Telstra Buzz puts my older dedicated data modems to shame.

I've used other handsets without issue, just this phone or it maybe faulty and i can return it. I changed it to 3G and it runs fine, beats me. For LTE speeds thats actually a pretty mediocre result, once the cheaper handsets get carrier aggregation you'll be pretty impressed.

How do you feel about using one of? There seem to be a bunch of apps that do just that. Sounds like a good option if the front flash is supported and isn't too much of a battery drain. I'll try it once I get the phone unlocked.

Got one of these the other day, but not sure on unlocking. Is this the same model as the non-elite Y6? Reason being is that i can't find any "Y6 Elite" unlock codes anywhere, only "Y6", and I don't want to open the box in case there is no unlock for it.

Filled out the vodafone unlock thing cause the IMEI wasn't found, but just in case they don't get back to me or it's going to cost heaps, would be nice to know. For accessories, any of its aliases will probably do.

Search OzBargain to find providers of unlocks. Does anyone know if this phone can be unlocked to be used with Telstra 4G? If so now much does unlock cost roughly and where do you get it? Can cyanogenmod 13 be installed to get Marshmallow?

I absolutely hate non stock android with lots of manufacturer customizations and crap. But neither support all our network frequencies like the Y6 and I find the build quality of ZTE and Alcatel handsets to be a notch below Huaweis at the same price point.

Very happy with it so far. I looked for the Huawei Y6 Elite but both stores I went to were sold out.. Have you heard back from Voda yet? The first one I purchased I had a reply next day.

Are you still using NoLed? I recall posting about that in the Y thread almost a year ago. I've moved on from it now and have found something far more suitable for my needs. I use the paid version of "Missed call reminder" and find it far smoother, more stable and easier to setup for various situations using it's "profiles".

NoLed was OK, but it ran like a pig on my Samsung tablets, I tried tons of alternatives and was very relieved when I came across "Missed call reminder".

As always, what suits my needs might be useless for others, but I do recommend that you give it a try. I have been racking my brain trying to remember who it was that recommended it: Thank you once again.

I am using it with Voda so no real hurry for now. My favourite unlocker is always available if the worst comes to pass. I didn't think this was right so I did a factory reset and sure enough Apps is now down to about MB and available space is now at 3.

I suspect it was due to the firmware update not cleaning up after itself and I didn't do a factory reset after the update. As for the phone itself, it's pretty dang good for 99 bucks.

Screen is nice and bright, navigating around is fluid, the camera isn't completely awful like most cheap phones, and the speakers are decent: It also came with a screen protector. Kinda wish they had the black though, as the white is all pearly on the back; not fond of it but oh well, guess I can get a case.

Voda is so inconsistent. The G generally didn't and this is a probably their cheapest phone to support all AU carrier frequencies. Brilliant phone for the price. Grab it while its available! I moved my galaxy A3 to backup status and use this thing as my daily driver.

Tried the IMEI last night on the Vodafone site, but was not in their database, sent them a message and got a message back lunch time today, unlocked OK. That really is a bonus. The Fit Smart is quite zippy and this may be about the same or better.

Just wondering if anyone knows how to disable the annoying startup sound notification. A previous Huawei had the same thing, and I could not find out how to disable it. I find it annoying because I switch off my phone when I go to bed, and sometimes use the phone alarm to wake up, and something like a minute before the alarm comes on the phone others anyway will wake up, then sound the appropriate alarm.

The startup sound notification is quite shrill when being woken up. I suspect it cant be disabled, so I may resort to putting my phone on Airplane mode overnight and switching off the wifi setting.

There's still nothing on the Huawei website pertaining to this model so I don't think accessory options will improve anytime soon if the ones for the Y5 II are incompatible. Can confirm the Y5II covers fit fine.

I may have checked the entry for the "Updater" app in settings to see if the missing data was being used as cache before I did the reset but it may be worth checking again.

You can activate without providing credit card details. I'll eventually pay up for the unlocking because I really like the phone, although the techies have faulted some of its specs I'm OK with that.

Chose the Pay as you go plus starter pack, and also did a short term port to Voda. Was active on Voda network in about 15 minutes, which is much quicker than any other port.

Calls to may qualify. They also state "activate the included SIM card". I doubt they can check that, but I suppose they could check the initial account credit on the nominated account.

I bought one of these today as a temporary stand in for my much loved Nexus 5x, which is away for repair. I needed a SIM spacer. The phone hardware is fine. Build quality is ok.

It works well and runs speedily. The camera is not great, a real step down from the Nexus. Problems I've had so far; The phone has some power management software baked into the stock build.

This keeps killing my running apps Spotify is not a battery hog — I'm actually using it. I'd much rather disable the power management sw, but I can't. There is a local and non-syncing "Phone" calendar which new events default to instead of my normal google calendar.

I know I'm going to miss an appointment soon. Certainly it's better than the second hand Samsung the repairer was going to lend me. But I'm defintely looking forward to getting my Nexus back.

I found some apps still getting killed, sometimes. You have to keep switching in and out for the figure to change. But it shouldn't be doing anything Not certain what it means, but no "locked" app has been auto-killed yet.

Go to the right tab local filesystem or something, and bottom left is a clean icon. It seems to mainly delete cache, and around MB for me. But if it's the first time for you, maybe it could be much more?

I'm sure I had it working when I first got the phone, but now it won't. It will pair, but then says has to be connected from keyboard side, and to press any key.

But this doesn't work. The keyboard works with two other phones I tested it on. Google has little on this. It is bluetooth 3. Closest I saw in Apps was "bluetooth share" and "import via bluetooth".

Possibly I caused the problem, because I disabled a bunch of apps I didn't need. I think the keyboard was working before that I also tried restarting those bluetooth apps but not sure if I wiped their data.

Anyway, trying it again now Nope, it remembered the pairing from before, so not wiped and doesn't work. I tried wiping a few others, "huawei home" reset my homescreen, but that's all.

Others had no effect. When I turn on bluetooth, "bluetooth share" and "import via bluetooth" appear as running apps. The only other possibility "Android core apps", "android system" and "google services" latter includes DeviceConnectionServiceBroker — 'device' includes a 'keyboard', I guess?

Although the screen itself is 5 " the working surface is not as those 3 bottom keys which are supposed to be off the screen are now added on the screen. That's like when they say a fridge is L, yet usable capacity is only L.

It's just that they say it is larger than it is. In fact similar to saying our phone has 8gb storage, yet half of that is taken up by the OS. While there is similarity, one would know that OS has to be somewhere.

It can not run on air. And even if they had dedicated storage just for the OS it wouldn't work well as they would have to make it bigger since when you have an update, it takes up more space then before and by having it separate it would also cost more.

When I related that to fridges, it is actually very similar since it is not the whole fridge that is storage area but only inside. But in most apps, they disappear when not being used, e. I often have to swipe in from the side of the screen to make them appear.

TBH I thought they weren't present in firefox, but they are, along with the top status bar — not a true fullscreen app, I guess. It's like the keyboard takes up a lot of the screen space, but only when you need it.

The price of unocking will come down if you can wait. I still reckon its a great phone for the price. I am keeping one as a backup, having move on to a GR3, the other 2 Y6's I have will go to good homes: I didn't look far and wide so it might be even cheaper if you look hard enough.

Not for Telstra users like me. I wouldn't call it particularly well built. It's ok built but nothing special. Most were cheap feeling, squeaky affairs with touchscreens that feel like plastic but the Y6 is up there with the best of them.

I set up about 5 Y6s for friends and family but one had a squeaky chasis which was promptly returned and replaced. Haven't tried BT keyboards but my activity tracker syncs quicker than on my Samsung devices.

This poster had an issue with his BT keyboard after initial success although he thinks it may have been caused by disabling apps: I tried this and it doesn't work. It also seems to be immune from Huawei's built-in task killer.

Is anyone using this phone in a cradle in a car gps type situation? I found the gps works really well in this phone, but want to get a cradle for it. I want to take it on a trip with me in about a weeks time so would have to be sold in Australia to get it here in time.

Has anyone found a replacement LCD for this phone? I and a few others here won't consider the Homtom at any price for the reasons I mentioned in an earlier post. Personally, I also won't register my fingerprint on a grey market phone from a lower tier manufacturer with not a lot of history.

Durability and reliability are also unknowns for the Homtom. I understand the popularity of certain grey-market Xiaomi and OnePlus phones since they offer so much more performance for the money when compared to others in their price brackets.

And they are made by manufacturers with known reputations with communities of users that also offer support. The HT17 Pro has none of these from what I can see and comes with all the disadvantages of grey imports.

Lack of frequency bands makes it worse. Dongles have their uses. They are compact, have no battery and are harder to break. Perhaps most important is that for most dongles USB CDC ACM type rather than CDC ether the dongle's host which can be a router can control and monitor the connection and send SMSs whereas a phone would require additional apps and proprietary apps on the host to be available.

It's harder to choose between a portable hotspot and a phone but hotspots are lighter and I assume will have better battery life. I'm not aware of any app that does thatfor a phone but it would be feasible.

I think many people are also unaware that a "data" SIM can be used in a phone and a "phone" SIM can be used in a dongle. I had forgotten it i have searched and there are no amazing deals on the Huawei so i will either get the dongle reset up or find my X phone.

I really like the white colour as it's a slight pearlish metallic colour. Of course we are only talking about the back of the phone here. My widget just says "tap here to manage your prepaid service". It should show it if you're on mobile data — when it's on wifi it can't get the usage information as well. My widget just says "tap here to manage your prepaid service" Remove that widget.

Does it mean being locked to being a Telstra customer, or being locked to using the Telstra network, but able to go through another company that uses the Telstra network — eg. Can we unlock other network bands on this device, under the options you listed Wahroonga Farm?

It does not seem to give that option which is a pain. Tethered to Rooter is fine but not stand alone. On closer inspection of the box there was a sticker over a sticker, so I offered the unlocker the IMEI number in the battery compartment and that unlocked it.

I've now received a second a second Buzz, this one from Telstra — an impulse buy, heck the headphones are worth 60 notes by themself. So if you come to unlock be aware that the stickers IMEI number may not be the same as the one on the phone, which isn't a problem unless you persistently bang in an incorrect unlock code 10 times.

I gave the unlocker the IMEI number showing on the box and the resultant unlock code failed. Where's the hardware specs? Is this a Qualcom Snapdragon? According to ZTE's website it is Qualcomm.

If the former then might be able to unlock additional 3G and 4G bands. And appears to add Mhz 3G, as I just popped a Voda sim in and don't think that Voda does or here. Perhaps someone else can confirm this.

I've tested with a Voda SIM. The handset is network locked to Telstra. If you put in a non-Telstra SIM card you won't receive any service. So if you come to unlock be aware that the stickers IMEI number may not be the same as the one on the phone,.

If your mobile doesn't automatically place a new app on the main screen - do a similar thing, hold the app down with your finger and it "should" drop it on the main screen.

You need to activate the new SIM. I think you'll find that this is merely their ID procedure, so they know who's responsible for the sim they're sending out. Once received you or anyone can activate the sim in a different name provided that relevent ID is provided.

I'm finding this, but the differences are minor like the viewing angles better with the Y and as DerekG says in favour of the Buzz it goes brighter. A matter of personal choice this.

The camera on the buzz has it all over the Y, but find the Y battery lasts longer, but it's early days, I've only completed one charge cycle on the buzz thus far, so the li-ion may still be settling.

I am unable to find the option to do this on this phone. I had a Y when they were cheap and the biggest flaw I found with it was only around 1. You could set it to install apps directly to sd card easy enough.

It shouldn't be any faster though than the Buzz, because the Buzz uses the exact same system on chip. The screen I believe is ips on the Y, so should have better viewing angles and might be a bit better to look at despite having the same dpi.

The only other budget phone with an ips screen that I could use to compare against is the Sony E4g, but I doubt the Y is in the same league as that phone's screen. I've had the Fit longer, and has been through a few more battery cycles, so perhaps that helps a bit.

Just checked OzBargain and 2 people received theirs with headphone on Friday so it seems like the headphones haven't sold out yet. I don't think any battery benchmarks are. I think it just a way to compare against other phones. I haven't found their tests to be indicative of real world battery life either.

I like the GSMarena one because they test talk time, web browsing and video playback separately to come up with the aggregate score. I value the web browsing and video playback results since that's what I use my handsets for most over any other tests out there but that's just me and we all have different requirements.

Yeah their tests must be a best case scenario, I have no idea how some of the phones achieve the numbers they get. So I don't think their numbers are good indicator of real world use either.

Though the buzz is a much better phone than the Lumia Yep used glance, i like the clock at night handy, both have 1 gig ram which is good, and 5mpx camera.

Battery seems better in the Buzz though. Just got my Buzz with the free headphones. Enjoy mate — glad you got the headphones. Going to use mine as an Audiobook player with a micro-SD as well.

Only issue with this is the volume on all droid phones is a bit low. If you use it more like dumb phone, the is better with power-saving mode. For smartphone use then the buzz should get 2 days of moderate use easy enough and better than Lumia.

I'd take the buzz everyday over the Faster processor, better apps, and flash on camera. Don't forget the free 5gb sim activation. Is that with the included sim? No extra recharge is required in the case of SIM cards included with prepaid devices. If you do some searching in the Lycamobile prepaid thread you may find a technique which allows tethering to occur in spite of Lyca not permitting it.

Lyca uses Telstra however and there is no guarantee the same technique will work in your case. I do know it works for Lyca although I do not use it. We ran into a problem some time back on a different phone.

Phones without MHz work fine in metro areas and large regional centres where there is MHz service. This had me stumped for a while, we even had 5 bars of signal at times but no service — I am guessing the phone was monitoring Telstra signal, not Optus.

As soon as you step into the country where there is no MHz service, the service stops. Someone mentioned before that this phone might actually support MHz. However, you'll have to play around with the secret handset menu.

The headphones are pretty ordinary. If I paid the prices they normally sell for I'd be disappointed. Doss apparently there isn't a way to set up seperate user accounts, although this phone runs android lollipop its version is missing this feature.

Perhaps a hardware limitation, insufficient memory perhaps. All you may be able to do is disable apps that are innapropriate in settings apps. I read somewhere that zte are unlikely to issue any updates to the phone.

There is an update app in the app drawer. I presume if an update became available you would use this app to download it to SD card then go to settings to install it.

Presumably the one mentioned here: I checked "about phone-system-updates "and I saw that only "storage cards updates" available, it said" copy update pack to storage card for system updates". I then used this script to remove kingroot and replace with supersu.

As stated by other users it's not available by default, however if you root the phone as above you can enable it by editing the build. You should be able to remove root once you have edited the build.

I have no problems with my Telstra sim either If this is the same for all Buzz users, it looks like Telstra's firmware is causing this. Your only choice will be to use the wifi hotspot or to replace Telstra's firmware with the factory generic one.

The UEs have very crisp bass, the Monsters have emphasised lows and highs, and fairly unenthusiastic mids. Power down phone, while holding the volume up power the phone up and it should enter recovery menu, use the volume buttons to select wipe cache, after that finishes reboot and try update again.

Yeah lots of devices like that yet my gb SD card still works. I haven't tested the buzz, but it works in the very similar ZTE fit. I doubt it's a hardware limitation. Works fine without formatting as FAT So no need to worry about the supposed 32gb limitation.

So i just got this phone for a family member and ended up doing the update, however now it seems to of removed the bluetooth smart function. Any idea how i can get it back? The device they use requires this.

It did work before the update too which seems even weirder. Maybe we can try it on our phones to see if the same issue exist after updating. I no longer have the phone with me and they won't tell me the app for some reason?

They probably don't want to in case any issues arise rolling back to a previous version, sucks they don't provide full firmware roms, as it limits development. Same thing has happened to me — did the update and now can't use BLTE bluetooth low energy.

I was using it to couple a Wahoo Tickr heart rate monitor to the phone — in fact, it was the only reason I bought this phone — for the Bluetooth 4 capability. It's not a problem with any APP — it is because Bluetooth 4 capability has been removed from the phone!!!!!

Coles has the Buzz in its latest catalog, on sale for a week commencing today. For 10cents extra you can buy it from Telstra and get free Startrack Airlock delivery and Monster DNA headphones, which I'm pretty sure you could sell for a lot more than ten cents if you didn't want them ;P.

I found that it outperforms my Note 4 in general use. That has more to do with Samsung version of Android than the hardware. It also has the advantage of a lower resolution screen.

Did anybody try OTG usb? I try to connect my Sandisk 32g Otg usb, but can't be recognised by buzz. I just tried then and it didn't work. Might have to root it and use an app like StickMount: I bought a buzz today.

I bought the phone knowing it would have difficulties with other carriers, the lack of Mhz was obvious from the start. Despite the "issues" with using this phone with amaysim I would still highly recommend it over any budget phone any day.

I do have experience rooting and editing build. The fact that you have to dick with it to get it to work on other carriers and the numbers on the mtk doc giving some nice gpu numbers, at least on paper..

Again not a bad phone but little things like that us geeks look at. This does not read as a Tempered Glass screen and looks like a Thin film type protector. Or the Huawei Y is very similar in screen.

I have this phone now for a while and its great, although speakerphone volume to listen too is not loud enough. I managed to find a case but i have to modify it a little.
