Dont get me wrong the iPhone 6 plus display is beautiful but right now nothing on the market is coming close to this display. There are no phones right now that are getting bad call quality.

I did a conference call yesterday over the speaker phone and it sounded great. The noise cancellation apparently works fine because the caller on the other end had no problems at all hearing me dispite my loud office.

The iPhone 6 has no problems in this area either. I didnt test by doing any sort of streaming video test but real world testing I can tell you the battery is beast. I am out the door for work around in the morning, I am in the military at a small base about 10 miles outside of Boston, the Soldiers in my section all work in different areas of the base or even in the city so we constantly communicate via text message and phone calls, I doubt 10 minutes goes by where I am not on my phone plus I have a Moto connected to it, as well as streaming pandora, Facebook notifications and emails.

I consider myself a moderate to heavy user. I get home about 6 pm and the Note is hovering around 40 percent. You may use your phone more heavily than me or maybe more lightly but I have no doubt this will last a whole day.

The iPhone is no slouch either, the battery on that definitely lasts me an entire day. If you look for a phone based on battery life both of these will easily do the job. Now this is where Samsung really pulls ahead in my opinion.

The iPhone 6 plus has a very good camera no doubt about it. But the Note 4 has probably the best camera on any phone out right now. If you compare the still shots taken from the iPhone and the Note on their resprective displays they look pretty similar but when you port them to computer screen thats where you really see the difference.

The detail in the iPhone photos begins to fall apart, this doesnt happen with Note. The Note has also made their camera interface so much more simpler and less convoluted but its still not as simple as the iphone.

You can also download tons of extra shooting moods. The 4k video looks amazing, especially if you have a 4k monitor or TV. As everyone knows by thankfully Samsung redesigned the Note with a more premium build.

I will say this, this is the best looking Samsung device I have ever used!!! The metal with chamfered edges looks absolutely beautiful, as a matter of fact it looks so nice that I dont even want to carry it without a case.

I ordered some cases but until they arrive this phone will not go into my pocket. I love the design even more than the 6 plus but I will also say that while is feels great in the hand, the 6 plus feels a little better because of the rounded edges.

But when I have my iPhone out of the case it feels like its going to squirt out of my hands. The note display curves at the edges and that is why there is a gap but the design looks amazing you have to see it to understand what I am talking about.

Personally if saw them sitting next to one another I would chose the Note especially the white one I settled for black, the white was sold out. Which design you prefer is completely up to personal preference, they both look good good tho.

I have read that most people never even pull this out, I personally use mines almost everyday. I take notes or copy and past. It is an incredibly useful tool. If you buy this phone you probably already know what you can do it so I wont cover them here, if not please go onto YouTube and check out some of the tips and tricks videos, the S-pen is awesome.

I can literally redefine how and what you use your phone for. The iPhone has no such tools, there are some third party styluses but that isnt even close to being the same. I could have written this review for another hour but noone came here to read or hear the same things you can get on Phonedog or on TheVerge's website or watch on MKBHD or Flossy Carter's YouTube channel, they are actually experts.

What I will say is I have both the iPhone 6 plus and the Note 4, and from the perspective of an average consumer they both cost pretty much the same price. But with the Note 4, I feel like I am getting more than just a big phone, it feels like Samsung gives you more extra's even if you dont use most of what they offer.

The iPhone 6 is great phone and does exactly what it promises to do, great design, good camera, easy to use I didnt even cover things like multi tasking, I just think Samsung gives you more for your money.

I have been using the Note 4 since the 23rd, I have only used my iPhone once because I forgot to charge the Note and I was running late for work. I found a few more things that I am really liking with this phone, the multi-tasking split screen is awesome.

I wanted to send my mom 3 pictures that I took while I was out in Boston over the weekend and when I got home I was able to use the multi-screen function wiht the s-pen and just click and drag the pictures from the gallery directly into the messaging app which was awesome.

I called Samsung, they had me download an app so the technician could remotely access my phone and fix it from where ever he is at in the world, I know I probably sound like a noob right now but it that was one of the coolest thing I have seen, he work on the problem for roughly 45 minutes till he fixed it, so big thumbs up for Samsung tech support.

Comment people found this helpful. Was this review helpful to you? I have been using the Note 4 for about 2 weeks now after returning the iPhone 6 Plus and wow is this Smartphone amazing.

For starters the screen is just breathtaking. Although the jump from HD to QHD isn't always noticeable there are those instances where you can witness it video play back. Colors are vivivid and details are superb.

Viewing angles are the best in class. One thing I did notice and I give Samsung props for is battery life. You would think that battery would suffer given the QHD display but unlike the LG G3 battery life is not sacrificed here.

In fact, I feel that it outperforms the Note 3 which had excellent battery life to begin with. I get a full day of use with it and when I don't due to high graphics gaming the quick charging support in this phone takes care of the rest.

One thing we mostly forget about smartphones is that they are still phones and as a phone the Note 4 is a champion. I can hear voices clearly and without distortion. I also dont need to raise volume to its highest setting in order to hear in a noisy environments.

On the other had, sppeaker phone is good but not the greatest. Can't match the Boomsound on the One M8 but it still manages to delivery decent levels of sound which remain clear even at high volumes.

I haven't tested the Camara to its fullest and will leave my review on that aspect for a later date. Overall I don't believe it will leave me disappointed. One added miracle coming from Samsung is we now get a metal frame.

It makes a big difference in the premium feel of the device but i wonder how long the painted portions will last. I find one-handed use pretty much pointless and almost impossible, even with Samsung's software modes turned on.

However, several CNET editors with larger mitts and pockets didn't have much trouble with the Note 4's size, commenting on how nice it feels to grip. Although it's got the same 5.

Its pixel density of ppi soars over the Note 3's ppi and the iPhone 6 Plus' density of ppi but is less pixel-packed than the slightly smaller LG G3's at ppi. These are big, impressive numbers on a big, impressive display that is undoubtedly clear and sharp.

I spent a lot of time scrutinizing the Note 4's presentation of many HD images, Web sites, and even 4K video against the iPhone 6 Plus and LG G3, all of them with brightness cranked to the max.

I also threw in the Note 3 for good measure. I will say, though, that the G3 looks noticeably dimmer at full brightness than the rest, and that the Note 4 exhibited smooth color gradients and strong contrast.

It was perhaps just ever so slightly better than the rest, but not nearly enough to warrant a rowdy debate. Even when viewing 4K video, hawk-eyed CNET editors and photographers gathered around the phones could only tell slight differences in the amount of detail on display.

If you're familiar with Samsung's Galaxy S5 , you pretty much know what you're getting with the Note 4. A physical home button and two capacitive soft keys rest below the screen, each with a secondary function when you press them down.

A rapid-charging port at the bottom edge balances out the 3. Below the camera lens, an LED flash module combines with the heart-rate sensor that is rapidly becoming another Samsung hallmark.

The back cover pulls off to access the battery and microSD card slot, which you can fill with an up-toGB card but not the GB you see on some other phones. The S-Pen holster bores into the back as well.

One thing you won't notice is a rubber gasket surrounding the internal parts to help keep them free of water, unlike on the Galaxy S5. This isn't a deal-breaker by any means, though some folks find that "waterproof" phones also like the Xperia Z3 are a little more convenient for their hydrophilic lives.

Music plays nice and loud out of the speakers, though its certainly passable audio quality is a little tinny and thin, not quite the rich, rounded audio of the HTC One M8, for example. Behind the scenes, the Note 4 supports Bluetooth 4.

If anything, Samsung seems to have scaled back from the Galaxy S5 rather than piling more on top like it usually does. My Magazine, the newsfeed that lives to the let of your home screen, has morphed into Flipboard which powered it anyway.

The Toolbox feature that was introduced with the S5 is also gone. I also enjoyed color-coding app folders on the home screen, which is another relatively tiny Note 4 omission. Google Search's always-listening ear is off by default, but you can turn it on in the app's settings menu under "Voice.

Otherwise, you'll find a slew of ways to customize things from motion control to the notification panel. Blocking mode and private mode are present, and those who find the UI a little too frenetic can switch to a simpler Easy mode.

As a security measure, the biometrically-minded can set up the fingerprint scanner as well though its time-saving property is dubious. Large phones like this one often come with settings to turn on one-handed operations.

New in the Note 4 is a persistent panel hosting icons for your home-button functions, plus one to shrink down the application window for theoretically better one-handed use. You can expand or hide it on any screen, and of course, customize the icons.

Features that would help me use the phone one-handed are some I'd like to like, but in order for it to work, you have to be able to comfortably grip the phone and navigate with a thumb, something I had problems with while grabbing a pole on the bus and giving blood, both activities that really test these claims by taking an arm out of commission.

Also, though it's meant to be temporary, shrinking the app window defeats the purpose of having such a large display in the first place. Just two more notes on apps before we move on.

You may notice a few tiny changes to S Health. In the US at least, S Health gets a new optional "coach" you can use that's sourced by healthcare provider Cigna. In addition to checking your heart-rate, the app can also monitor your blood-oxygen level SpO2.

The Galaxy Note 7's battery was judged as being capable of one-and-a-half days of normal use, and it was noted that the software also featured numerous estimation and power-saving features.

Techradar concluded that "If you're going to get out of the stylus, the Note 7 is an obvious choice. The iris scanner doesn't make it a convincing enough buy on its own.

Otherwise, save your money and stick with the S7 Edge. Ars Technica was critical of the Note 7 due to its many similarities to the Galaxy S7. The Note 7's refreshed design was commended for being smoother and more ergonomic than previous Samsung devices with curved screens, although the company was panned for using glass on the rear panel rather than metal.

The iris scanner's implementation was panned for adding additional steps to the process of unlocking the phone in comparison to the fingerprint reader, and that it does not integrate into Android's integrated authentication platforms making it proprietary to Samsung components.

Warnings regarding looking at the sensor for too long were also considered to be "just a little scary". TouchWiz on the Note 7 was panned for consisting mainly of "'different for the sake of being different' changes that don't add much to the software experience", and make the interface less consistent with third-party software by removing elements of Material design language.

In conclusion, Ars Technica doubted whether the Galaxy Note series was even necessary anymore due to its increasing similarities to the main Galaxy S line, and felt that the device was priced too high, citing Chinese vendors capable of undercutting the prices of major brands while still producing phones of similar specifications.

Battery defects caused many Note 7 units to overheat and combust or explode. In the original run of devices, the battery, produced by a Samsung subsidiary, [38] contained a design flaw that made electrodes on the top-right of the battery susceptible to bending.

This weakened separation between positive and negative tabs of the battery, thus resulting in thermal runaway and short circuits. Following an official recall on 12 September, [8] the Galaxy Note 7 was re-versioned using batteries from a third-party supplier.

Some batteries were also missing insulation tape entirely. Samsung reported that these oversights resulted from the vendor's push to ramp up production of batteries for the replacement phones in order to meet demand.

Due to the battery defects, the device is considered a hazmat product, and all transportation stations such as airports prohibit the Note 7 from being taken on-board, even if powered off.

On 31 August, it was reported that Samsung was delaying shipments of the Galaxy Note 7 in some regions to perform "additional tests being conducted for product quality"; this came alongside user reports of batteries exploding while charging.

On 2 September, Samsung suspended sales of the Galaxy Note 7 and announced an informal recall, after it was found that a manufacturing defect in the phones' batteries had caused some of them to generate excessive heat, resulting in fires and explosions.

A company spokesperson stated that it had received 35 reports of battery failure, which "account for less than 0. Federal Aviation Administration FAA issued an advisory on 8 September, that passengers should not turn on or charge these devices on board aircraft.

On 12 September, the Galaxy Note 7 was officially recalled in the U. The Galaxy Note 7 was subsequently re-issued with batteries supplied by the Chinese company Amperex Technology Limited which also serves as the main battery supplier for the iPhone line.

Samsung was granted special permission by Google to allow this change, as it would normally violate the requirements of the Android Compatibility Definition Document which must be met to license Google Mobile Services software and Android trademarks [48] for all status bar icons to only be rendered in white.

Unlike the South Korean update, it does not include a charging cut-off. In October, several incidents occurred in which replacement Galaxy Note 7 phones still suffered from battery failure and combustion.

A Galaxy Note 7 owner in Kentucky was hospitalized with acute bronchitis due to smoke inhalation, after his replacement device caught fire in the early morning of 4 October.

The owner told a local television station that he had received a text message not meant for him from a Samsung customer service representative, which read "Just now got this.

I can try and slow him down if we think it will matter, or we just let him do what he keeps threatening to do and see if he does it". Samsung stated that they were working with Southwest Airlines to investigate the incident, but stated that they would be unable to confirm whether the device was a replacement model until it was recovered.

On 7 October, a third replacement phone in Minnesota had reportedly caught fire in a similar manner. Cellular on 10 October subsequently announced that they would suspend sales of the Galaxy Note 7 until further notice, pending an investigation.

On 10 October, Samsung officially announced that it had "[asked] all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges" of the Galaxy Note 7, and urged all owners to power them off and "take advantage of the remedies available, including a refund at their place of purchase".

The shipping box also contains instructions explicitly stating that they are not to be shipped by air. These recalls ban the sale and distribution of any Galaxy Note 7 phone within these countries.

The headset had been included with some units of the phone as a promotional offer. On 14 October, the U. Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Transportation 's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration banned the Note 7 from being taken aboard any airline flight, even if powered off.

However, it was later discovered that the hotspot was a hoax, and that no passenger had actually brought a Galaxy Note 7 on board. In December, Samsung announced its intent to cripple the functionality of unreturned Galaxy Note 7 phones in Canada and the United States via software updates.

In Canada, an update restricted charge capacity, and blocked the phone from connecting to any wireless networks, nor use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. In the United States, the update blocked the devices from being recharged in order to " eliminate their ability to work as mobile devices ".

Verizon announced that it would refuse to distribute this update due to the "added risk this could pose to Galaxy Note 7 users that do not have another device to switch to" because it would "make it impossible to contact family, first responders or medical professionals in an emergency situation", especially during the holiday season.

On 18 December, Verizon announced that they would be distributing the update on 5 January The Verge criticized Samsung's overall handling of the battery faults and recall, arguing that the company had initially delivered unclear messaging over whether the devices were still safe to use, as well as its slow communication with the U.

Consumer Product Safety Commission, which had the capacity to issue an official recall in the U. The arguments were based on data released on 13 September by the research firm Apteligent, which stated that Galaxy Note 7 usage had been "almost exactly the same" since the announcement of the exchange program.

He argued that this design decision exacerbated the battery faults of the Note 7, by requiring users to replace the entire phone as opposed to just the battery. He suggested that in the future, Samsung could "lead the pack" by switching back to removable batteries, as with other "responsible" OEMs such as HP Inc.

Analysts argued that the recall had hurt Samsung's brand, and would likely cause the company to lose its market share to competitors, including Apple and Google which had recently unveiled their iPhone 7 and Pixel models, and other Android vendors.

On 18 October, McCuneWright LLP sued Samsung and filed a proposed class-action lawsuit over its handling of the recall, stating that the company had "failed to reimburse consumers for monthly costs associated with owning an unusable Note 7".

Samsung released its official findings on 23 January An advisory board of academics was also formed. Concerns were also raised over the creation of electronic waste resulting from Samsung's announced plan to destroy all returned phones, rather than recycle and refurbish them into new products.

A representative of Samsung India denied these reports. On 27 March, Samsung announced that it now intends to extract reusable parts such as metal, semiconductors, and cameras from the recalled devices, and market refurbished devices "where applicable".

For anyone who is into tech like me probably has heard about the whole gap-gate issue with these phones. I will honestly tell you there is gap but it clearly a design of the phone to make the curved edge of the screen more pronounce, honestly its looks great but I can understand peoples concerns.

You can slide a piece of paper around the edge of the screen but I will talked about that more in the design part of this review. I will keep the specs to a minimum, if your reading this review just scroll up and all the specs are right there and stated much better than I can describe.

I will start with all of the things that I do not like. The speaker being on back instead of the front or the bottom is very annoying and forces you to hold the phone around the edges if you are watching or listening to something.

In this case Apple's touch ID is much better but once I got used to Samsungs version it got easier to use. As petty as this is Samsung its time to redesign that hideous phone dialer.

The Note 4 is the only phone that uses a micro sim card so I have to use my Note and iPhone on different lines, if you have one phone this wont be an issue but if your like me and have a few this huge issue.

Now that is out of the way on to what I do like Display: The screen on this phone is absolutely phenomenal, I have the iPhone 6 plus which also has a beautiful display but Samsung has absolutely outdone themselves this time.

The colors are vibrant, the text is insanely sharp. I watched movie previews on Flixster and I was completely mesmerized at the clarity.

I'm comfortable with the size of the device and currently using it with a Samsung Flip Cover.

I think it's the best way to keep your device clean and protected without adding bulk and turning your device into an unmanageable monster. I do wish however that this device included wireless charging out the box.

I have a Samsung Qi pad which would of come in handy. In regards to performance, I haven't had any issues. Everything is as smooth as butter. I have yet to experience any lags or freezes which is a suprise given TouchWiz track record.

Games run amazing and running other apps simultaneously has not hindered performance so far. Speaking about multitasking I have got to say Samsung new "Window" feature is the best new benefit added to the device.

The ability to minimize screens or create short windows on running apps is superb. Works great and without hiccups. It's like having your fingers work seemlessly as a mouse.

Overall I'm glad I purchased this device and believe this one is finally a keeper for many months or perhaps year s to come. You can't go wrong with the Note 4. There are many positives to this device and there is no other that can match it currently in the market.
