Although coming from a vendor I'm going to assume its very limited on what it does, leaning towards it just blocking access to apps to peoples brats can't launch stuff. Avast, avg and any other virus-apps are a waste of time and money. I can use Linux under a Chroot, meaning I have a full Debian server running under my phone.

Although I think they really should extend security updates past that, gotta keep your stragglers safe. For future phones or other devices. I am not picky with a provider as long as they can provide me with 4G internet: 7 inch android phones how to unlock HTC were advertising Sense 7 location awareness, I hope this is not a huge cause for battery drain. The S6 even has the same placement, but sounds much better.
Welcome To Android Phone Central!
I tend to agree, Google is the one that can break that cycle, really the only one. That was my issue when the M7 came out.

Costco has a satisfaction guarantee lifetime. Looking for something for the interim. I have never, ever ever got a virus on ANY Apple product, and never had to put any software or app to keep it running correctly. Have a look here, a couple of nice spigen cases http: Iphone offers less control, poor resoluion, no expandable memory and not all phones can share the same apps. Thought for iPhone 7. 21.03.2018 - Or they are just giving their professional opinions, which is what people want. Is google just lazy or there is another reason? Samsung sells 10x their volume and has been doing so for years. IMO it's one of the reasons why should have replaceable batteries if you plan to keep your phone longer than 2 years. They both handle text differently.

23.02.2018 - No bloat, Android as Google intended it. For instance I'm sure the Nexus 6 could've easily run the current Nought build yet it's stuck at 7. Google does good with monthly updates, too. And as you knowing rooting and jailbreaking merely lowers the security of the OS. I really really want HTC to do well. I thought every browser wraps until I used my iPhone for a few weeks and noticed Safari doesn't wrap. I've been watching your posts hoping someone would reply, but they never did! I would have, but I dont have a m9, I'm on the m8. There is an added trust thing you can do as well, will be something about it in the notification tray.
NFI if that will help, but something different I noticed. For everyone missing the stock HTC browser I noticed HTC TV was gone, so installed it from the Play Store, played with it for a bit, realised I didn't really needed it and freed up the space again.
I prefer the choice. I have now noticed that my m9 will not connect with my lg g warch r. My car will pair so it is not bluetooth. Have tried everything on yhe phne including the new trust thing, although this seems to keep the he phone open whn connected.
You may need to do a factory reset. I had a similar problem with my M7 connecting to blue tooth on one of the family cars. Reset fixed but none of the other options worked When I rsset my old m7 I remrmbered I had similar problems, so I had to do a watch reset as the watch thought it was a new phone You have to reset the watch and reinstall the android wear app.
The watch has some sort of software update that gets applied duting the reset. Anyone else got this problem, or know how it can be solved other than uninstalling HTC Backup? Yeah this pops up a couple of times a day, not sure why.
Never saw it with the M7 or M8, it'll probably be fixed via a Play Store update so I'm not too worried. Nthing seems to work. At the android wear level it will not connect.
It was hard to track down and people were not too concerned either. Anyway, being the geek I am I was not letting it go! I am actually going to an Optus store today for something else so will ask there too.
Although I find that mostly I know more than them in there haha. The controls still don't rotate when I turn the camera but at least they all come out the right way.
I find the controls rotate, but the nav buttons don't. So in portrait mode, the nav buttons are in landscape. After almost a days use, I'm finding the battery life of the M9 to be marginally better than my M7 when idle.
If I use the screen and run some apps, it almost feels as if its using more power then the M7 would. The M9 is setup with exactly the same launchers, apps and themes as the M7 in fact some apps I haven't loaded, so the M9 is a bit lighter app wise.
Its only early days, but for me, battery wise there doesn't seem to be an advantage over the M7 if the phone is actually used as a smartphone. I suspect I have just acquired a bigger, heavier M7 but with slightly better sound, slightly better outdoor camera, faster UI and apps and 4GX data speeds.
To those who own this phone. How is the camera quality? Is it really as bad as reviews seem to say it is? I will be coming from a Nexus 5 which is already notorious for it's potato cam status. I wonder if it will be a step up or or remain the same?
Once both are done then start the wear app and follow instructions, it is working fine now. To all those with Android Wear issues, you need to reset the device so it can pair to a new phone.
I think its the wear app itself. I noticed that sometimes its says "connecting.. I deliberately moved the phone out of range multiple times to see if I could replicate the "wear is not responding" white screen I used to get when paired to the M7.
The watch and the M9 reconnect quite quickly with no issues. It's much better than a Nexus 5 in my opinion for daylight shots but it does lack OIS so there are certain situations where you may prefer shots on the Nexus 5.
I've not seen any feeback yet from HTC to say if battery, Camera or Sense 7 issues raised will be dealt with in a patch yet.. Personally I think they will like what happened with the M7 after 2 patches pretty much all the niggles were sorted out.
Apparently an OTA went out again recently for unbranded international models. It's too bad we'll be waiting months to see any updates thanks the Aussie carriers.
Loving my M9 so far, quite a nice upgrade fromthe M7. I really like the theme editor, but I can't work out how to change the lock screen clock? Some of the downloadable themes have a different clock but im not sure how to add it to my theme.
From what I can tell sense fix for camera rotation issue and keyboard and a few fixes for lollipop. I'm a big HTC fanboi, and part of me really just wants to get this phone!!!
IME, you need to pick the theme that has the clock you want and then edit the rest back. If you can, get a theme that's at least a near colour match for what you want.
Big thanks to stetar and idiot child for your input regarding text reflow and the HTC browser, this was the only deal breaker stopping me from getting the M9. Actually gone back to Sense 6 for now.
Wouldn't pay full price for this if I had a 1 or 2 year old HTC and I didn't care for its beautiful styling. I'd be a sheeple and wait for S6 then whinge about cracked glass.
Does anyone knows why everytime I select the pocked mode to be enabled, it gets unticked when I go back to the main menu? Also, does anyone notice that having the automatic brightness level is way to low, coming from using an M7 in the past?
Arroun my area there is only coverage for 4G only and thus, shows onlhy the 4G symbol. Not sure about battery yet on eithervwatch or phone under nrmal use. I guess thd next couple of weeks will answer that.
So far I am liking the m9 as an upgrade from the m7, the speed of the phone combkned with telstras 4gx makes uskng it s joy. Use a speed test. If you are getting above 16 to 17mbs you are probably getting 4gx.
I was getting 22 up and down! Guys just a word of warning, and as I learned the hard way, doing speed tests on your mobile data can chew through your download quota.
It is awesome to see the fast speeds, and but I chewed through a few hundred megabytes of data doing a few tests over the week. Mine finally arrive today after the Telstra address stuff up.
Have it charging, looking forward to it coming from a Lumia Appears that Optus and Voda might get the Gunmetal option as well in 3 months time. I will be eligible for early upgrade next month, wondering if I should wait extra 2 months to see if I can get the color I want.
Just because they have an exclusive doesn't mean other carriers will support it. But 3 months came and went and Telstra remained the only supplier of the HD2 in Australia.
That's when I just flat out got the HD2 outright. Telstra may have an exclusive on the M9 in Gunmetal but it doesn't mean that Optus and Vodafone will offer the unit in that colour in 3 months time.
Only need to wait for 2 months extra, by then they might have fixed most of the software related issue at launch and my M7 is still working fine at the moment.
So, it might not be a bad idea to wait after all, even if I can't get Gunmetal from Optus. I was thinking about asking whether anyone would like to trade with me, but I remember buying HTC Velocity and I hated all the Telstra apps they put on the phone.
Had the phone for two days. Firstly the good points. The screen is crisp and smooth to use. The metal body is nicer to hold than the m8. Feels solid and sturdy. I don't understand how HTC can go backwards on battery life.
My one m8 lasted mins per 1 percent of screen on time. This is mins. Secondly the boom sound is not as loud as the m8. And I use My speakers slot for YouTube and music. The camera has not improved although I doesn't bother me, its another thing HTC failed to rectify.
Overall its still a good phone. But has fallen of the pace since last year. HTC must be putting all there resources into the m Id be giving it a few days of use and recharging before you worry too much about that.
Whenever there is a major update to my M7, battery life sucked for at least a few full recharges. Hopefully that's the case with yours. I think the M8 had fantastic battery life and this one is just ordinary.
This review gets specific enough on it http: I don't own an M8, so I don't know if it has this feature, but the M9 lets you switch between Music mode and Theater mode.
Theater mode should be louder than music mode. Perhaps have a look into that: Yup that a general rule of thumb. If you never custom rom'd or read through those sorts of threads then might not know the whole settle thing.
It's just not sustainable to ask a thousand dollars for a premium new model with worse battery life than a prior version and a mediocre camera at best.. A major shame as they had so much time to improve the M8's shortcomings and there's a lot of good features of the phone, ie design and boom speakers.
Hopefully they make an 'S' version asap or Samsung and LG are likely to blow them out of the water. I can only compare to my S4 but the battery life on my M9 is way better.
At least twice as good so far. Battery can be somewhat improved by optimization and the camera will really improve over time.. I don't think it's a fail it just not better than the rest I don't think the z4 will be a big improvement on the Z3.
Coming from a former Samsung Galaxy S3 user, is it just me or, the M9 takes a long time to charge? I only got my M9 today, was too impatient and didn't give it a full charge yet. Mine is slow too.
That used to charge fully in less than an hour. I was actually using the phone whilst it was charging when I first opened it, and it was not charging. It stayed on the same percent for 30 mins.
Light to moderate usage, took a bunch of photos, browsed the web etc. Should I give it a full charge? Anyone else have input? I have the same. The Australian charger don't have the Qualcomm QuickCharge branding on the side.
I seem to kill mine faster than my M8, but it might just be that new phone messing around that's doing it. HTC were advertising Sense 7 location awareness, I hope this is not a huge cause for battery drain.
I charged it maybe like half.. Unrelated, but I hate how the app drawer isn't continuous scrolling Really messes me up a lot when I'm trying to press an app.
To make things worse, the app drawer is so cluttered with useless apps, and there doesn't seem to be a way to make a folder in the app drawer so I can clean things up.
Did you start using the phone as soon as you got it? Or did you give it a full charge? Full charge twice since then. There is a folder feature, just go to "rearrange apps" and drag one on top of another.
Ahhhh, I couldn't see that because I changed it to alphabetical mode. Had to switch back to 'custom'. Eh I guess that works. Battery life and camera are a fail in this review..
Ill wait to see if OnePlusTwo comes out soon otherwise its a M9 for me. I don't take many photos so meh. I had a similar problem initially — mine was actually discharging while it was plugged in and being used — and it was a rogue USB cable.
Hopefully this isn't the case if you're using the one from the box, mind Best phone on the market, because the Z4 and S6 are yet to hit the market.. From some tests I've seen its an absolute powerhouse.
I would have waited for such a powerful phone but still prefer the M9 design over the all glass look of the S6. I've thrown everything I can think of at the M9 and processing power coupled with 4GX won't be an issue for me.
Battery seems to be improving, so thats not an issue for me now either. My god is it crap! I really hope there is a software update, surely its not a hardware fault?
Low light photos taken in a restaurant are reminiscent of an old Aldi "Tevion" 4mp fixed focus flashless camera I bought back in!! Please do let us know how you go with that. I am tempted to get this phone but only 2 things holding me back is lack of gunmetal grey except with Telstra and crappy camera.
Checkout this review, There isn't much performance different between last year M8 and M9, and has been confirmed that HTC underclock the M9 to fix the overheating issue, what ashamed.
I tried FV-5, no noticeable improvement in photo quality when taking photos in auto mode outdoors. Can tweak more in FV-5 to get a slightly better picture. But who wants to do that with a mobile phone.
The phone camera should just work auto mode. Indoors, no improvement in auto. Now I've encountered a new problem. Both FV-5 and the stock camera decided to stop working after taking a couple of shots from each!!
All I get is a black screen in both! With the stock camera app then crashing and closing. Luckily a reboot of the phone fixed. Given other apps use the camera hardware, I'm now a little concerned about the stability of either the camera hardware or HTC software.
If I have to do this each time the phone is switched off, or god forbid, I put it in airplane mode, I'll be shipping it back to Telstra as a smartphone not fit for purpose! I'd recommend not buying it, unless you can get it dirt cheap or are coming from a much older phone or you really love the look and feel of it as I do.
Beating a dead horse at this point, the phone in reality flies and is so far ahead of any other phone on the market right now in real-life performance. I'm honestly not seeing the shots as being much worse than my Note 4.
I almost always prefer my Note 4 shots, but the M9 isn't too shabby either. Is your lens dirty or smudged? I notice it gets dirty very easily which is a shame as the screen has a fantastic coating that prevents fingerprints and grime.
I'm really disappointed they didn't include OIS on this camera as well, their excuse doesn't fly with me this time, whereas I could kind of accept it with the M8 because of the duo cam setup. I was excited about this phone, I was going to get a new one for my birthday from last year back in July but I don't know now.
I'm going to Japan next month on the 14th and I wanted to take a lot of photo's, is this phone worth the chance of HTC doing an update by then and fixing the camera?
Because from what I saw it's not very good. And are there any decent phone plans out there that aren't too expensive? I really want at least 1GB a month anything over and the price per month explodes!
Anyone know of any good phone plans that would suit me? Using an LG-P now, I hardly ever, if ever upgrade my phone was my mums old phone that I've been using for over 5 years.
Ok then, kinda sucks because it's probably the only time I'll be using the camera too. I really do like the M9 for all those points and others too. The camera is actually much better than the M7 and M8 for day shots, not only the resolution but also it doesn't have weird quirks like a purple tint on things that are too bright in sunlight not referring to the low-light purple haze defect.
For low-light, I've found if you go into manual settings and drop the ISO to or and then lower the shutter speed to 2 seconds you can get amazingly bright and clean shots but you need to the phone to be stable.
I was using earlier with no problem. I set it down on my desk while I went to make lunch. When I came back, I picked the phone up and it felt quite hot unusual, since it was just idling, and the weather is cold, tried to unlock my phone but the screen isn't even turning on.
I see my notification light flashing but the screen just will not turn on. Anyone have any suggestions? This is a bit.. Had mine for 24 hours now. Besides some of the Sense syncing notifications annoying me I'm really liking it.
Not finding it too hot either, at worst it's gotten to around 36 degrees and has never felt worse than slightly warm. Might try to take some night photos tonight, although coming from a Lumia I'll probably be disappointed.
I think you need to hold volume down and power for about 20 seconds Or it could be volume up and power. You wouldn't by any chance have any photo's that you could show off with those settings?
Nah, cleaning it constantly to make sure. Outside shots i have no problem with. Though outside shots in the shade shows weird under and over exposure in the same photo sometimes. Bit hit and miss.
The phone is alright now, but I'm still concerned. The fact that my phone was temporarily not responding when I just let it sit there idle.. It doesn't really affect well-lit shots but it does making focusing in low-light harder and video isn't spectacular unless your hand is steady.
Pretty much the same experience as the M8 in that regard. Tapping to focus in low light causes weird over-exposure because the HTC camera software tried to brighten up the target as much as it can.
It's better to let it auto-focus and then go to Manual mode and slide down the ISO and shutter settings as low as you can depending on the lighting. I remember it happening once with my M8 last year after I first got it but it never happened again, I wouldn't worry too much about it for now, you always have your first 30 days to get your carrier to replace it on the spot if you didn't buy outright, otherwise 2 year warranty to get it replaced.
Manual ISO, shutter speed 1 second http: The manual shot is easily the best. Yeah that looks alot cleaner and sharper than the other pics, thanks for this.
I might just get the M9 then because I don't mind doing manual settings to make pictures look better liket that. I don't mind doing manual settings to make pictures look better liket that.
I don't mind if I really have to but I prefer my phone's auto mode to get me a decent pic if possible. The good thing is that theoretically HTC can update the camera which is updatable via the Play Store to improve the auto algorithm to get better shots.
Remember they're using a new sensor so I'm sure they'll be doing lots of tweaking over the coming months to improve it. The galaxy S6 will excel over the M9 in nearly every facet.
Definitely have a look at it as reviews coming out are praising the device heavily. I went to telstra today t check out the M9, it seems pretty sweet with the Grey metal version.
I's surprised that the outright price is lower then Jb or Harvey. Really its not good. Its similar to the one m8. With a bigger battery and a newer SD. It should put atleast an hour extra screen on time.
I originally was going to get the M8 Windows Phone but it was never released in Australia, and was hoping that when the M9 was released I'd be able to install windows 10 on it. But I guess that might not happen.
The S6 does look good though, but getting it so close before going away I don't know if I'd be able to get it in time: Just wondering, is their outright phone Locked? Is the telstra app that comes with the phone removable?
I didn't try and haggle as I wasn't intending on buying today. I find that my devices tend to have the "Android System" draining some of my battery while the screen is off, so I would expect some fixes in the coming months with Lollipop tweaks.
This is assuming that TGG doesn't hike up the price in preparation for the eBay deal, one can only hope. Outright that's the best price I've seen, Voda still has the best plan price on a 12 month plan Reason being that for my small kids the Zoe mode is extremely important as the instant that they face the camera is hard to catch and almost never at the same time which is something that Zoe capture mode is good for.
Although I've ordered a S6 edge, i'm also thinking of getting an M9. I had a M8 last year and thought the audio quality both from the speakers and through earphones sounded fantastic.
People who already have the M9, how is the sound quality when using earphones or headphones? Is it just as good as the M8? Didn't realise how good the 12 month deal is! Up 'til now I'd only considered the 24 month option.
All comparisons below are based on Voda's 3GB data plan 'cause that's the one I'm interested in. They're saying that it's: Im leaning heavily towards the edge also.
I'll miss the speakers of the M7. I thought M9 was a no brainer for me but the other flagship has more going for it for me. Going on holiday soon and no OIS means my videos would look rubbish. Also looks like the s6 camera is better all round.
I was so set against samsung until the note 4 came out. Until then samsungs offerings just didnt do it for me on an aesthetic level. But the M9 was so similar to the M8 it instantly made me a long time HTC fan pause and think about my purchases.
HTC relied on their long term fans to carry them through these past 2 years and now they've sort of forgotten them and tried to catch more market share through new customers to the brand, I'm scared to look at the end of year financial report when it does come out.
They've never been able to compete sales figures wise against Samsung. Even though the M8 and M7 were an par or better arguably than all other flagships of previous years their brand was never marketed well enough.
This year will be even worse as the S6 looks like it could be the clear leader in design, performance and obviously sales. In previous years, sales numbers did not equal best phone.
This year it will. I really really want HTC to do well. I miss the old windows mobile days. Now all my mates are like pfft get samsung or apple, everyone else is lame. I need new friends lol.
I don't really care what Samsung does with its Galaxy Line — Touchwiz is an abomination. I don't like using my wifes s3. Looks like a loony tunes cartoon. The edge catches my eye though.
Companies are always trying to look for the next best thing and are constantly trying to improve their products to draw new customers in. HTC for this year havent really done anything substantial. I dont like LG because they're too similar to samsung and i absolutely hate apple so that kinda only left HTC and sammy, or maybe one plus.
My opinion is that right now no one is doing a stellar job in the mobile space, every device has too many detractors to be able to pick a clear winner. As Crazy CS mentioned a while back in this thread, you just need to go with whichever one suits your needs.
The M9 is underwhelming overall but only because the M8 was already fantastic. While I think it's a great phone, I've been spoilt by the Note 4's excellent camera and battery life.
The S6 honestly doesn't seem that much better unless you buy phones to run benchmarks and brag about how it's score is 10K more than the next phone. The Note 4 has a bigger screen, better battery life and pretty much the same camera and is a lot cheaper than the S6.
My opinion is that the Note 4 offers the best overall package right now if you want the best phone. I've thought about that one too. I use my phone alot for work but have always thought of these phablets as being too big.
Would be better for my eyes though. Anything bigger wouldn't fit, especially phablets. I'm now used to the additional weight of the M9 over the M7 in my pocket and really is no difference now. Plus the M9 is easier to hold in phone calls.
It feels just right, fits in the hand perfectly. I understand the "lip" and the curved back now. So are you saying a larger screen is better for eyes? S6 looks like it could be the clear leader in design, performance and obviously sales.
Design though is arguable. Haven't people whinged about glass front and backed phones before? I can't see them being that ergonomic especially with wet or sweaty hands. I've given up on samsung.
Have had an SGS2 glass crack for no reason, a Note Both devices required new motherboards. They were very well looked after too. I threw it across a room once during the no sound in calls fiasco around xmas and its been dropped a few times.
Still works great has a couple nicks here and there but is of damned fine solid construction, given the abuse it gets. I compared the screen with my brothers note 4 and you can't tell the ppi difference at All.
The m9 has a really good display. I can only see the 24 month option on the Red 70 plan — could you link me to the 12 month option please? Do you listen to music whilst riding? I can only compare to M7.
I don't listen to music through speakers while riding but do through bluetooth headphones. The music is better than M7, in fact I think the amplification has been upped, with no affect on soundstage, frequency range and output.
I also use wired Klipsch Mode M40's when on a plane and the music sounds superb with these headphones, showing all the detail of the music and with a superb soundstage.
The Monster DNA headphones that came with this phone as part of the preorder with Telstra also sound pretty good but the soundstage is a little compressed and lower frequencies over emphasized.
But tweaked in poweramp can get them to sound pretty decent. This shows to me that the hardware of the phone is top notch and probably as best audiophile as you can get on a phone, just get good headphones to get that depth and dimension that the phone is very capable of delivering.
Noting that when not using the phone I listen to music through my 70's audiophile Marantz and 80's Marantz Esotec equipment. The M9 is no match but not that far behind Im thinking the bigger screen of the note might be easier on my eyes for size of text.
My eyes aren't as good as they used to be. Apparently that happens when you hit 40! Currently using an M8 and M7 previously ; picked up a Note 4 at Costco yesterday very generous returns policy!
So far so good. I imagine it'll be even better with the S6 and its less-cartoonish touchwiz. I need to rely on the big screen to confirm theses days. Reading emails, texts, FB and even WP on the M7 puts a bit of strain on my eyes by the end of the day.
I love the look of the s6 edge but I need to play on the Note before I pull the trigger. Let us know what you think of the Note 4. Did you contemplate the Edge? No, only grabbed Note 4 because Costco had it on sale, and I wanted to play with a samsung device but using third party launchers to see how much I could "de-touchwiz-ise" it.
The qHD screen is simply gorgeous. Camera is leaps and bounds better than what HTC offers, and that really excites me for what the S6 will have to offer. Edge, I think the "edge" bit on the Note 4 is quite pronounced than it is expected to be on the S6 Edge.
I updated my Moto RAZR HD to kit kat last night I use this as my online music streamer and graphic equalizer display using Audio Equalizer for my massive array of 70's stereo gear and lo and behold this thing performs really great now, compared to before.
So I told the M9, in no uncertain terms, it will become the music streamer and the RAZR will become my main phone again, unless it behaves! Costco has a satisfaction guarantee lifetime.
So had a look at the M9 at Telstra today and considering I am avg user and would not worry to much about camera and full speed I could almost get one of these. It was nice to handle and the OS was faster than the M7 as well.
Still waiting for the S6 Edge Pricing to pop up as that the 2 phns I am looking at. Well, I like this phone but it's taking me a bit of time to get use to the new features.
Have in mind, I was using a M7 for more than 2 years. What I don't really like is that by having the brightness in auto, seems very low comparing to the M7. I just ordered in a dot view case for the M9, This phone worries me because it feels like I am about to drop it due to it's size, with the M7 never had this issue.
Just curious, how would you describe your daily usage? I can't get through a full work day 7am wake up — 10pm sleep without having to charge. IPhone has good sound?
Better than any Android? Have you even seen an HTC One phone? Best speakers and any phone! IPhone speaker is tinny garbage. The S6 even has the same placement, but sounds much better.
Cm8 literally got the top phone of, and everyone mention how good the speakers work. I also got first place cuz it was vastly superior to any iPhone. Better software, better design, better screen, etc.
And please specify what Android phone it was. Or you got a cheaper old one. Android high end phones are very stable. Signed, someone who has never used Viper4Android. Many of the rest of Androids can use this superior sound mod.
V4A gives audio processing to match. Not available on iPhones or Windows Phones. Why r u only talking about iphone 6plus, which is much costlier than androide same feature phones, there are some other iphones had launched by apple like iPhone5, 5s,5c i compare this phones whith rs android phones where battery of iphones so worst and camera and no memory slot, nevertheless this iphones have more cost than android phones.
Does this mean that it is designed for dumb people who constantly flip the usb port? Dude, i use both systems and i can point out one thing better that most people usually ignore, my Father is blind, he uses an iPhone because tbh the Voice-over mode for iPhone is the best ive seen and used so far.
Do you know how much tracking, data mining even occurs with an iphone? The iphone is for the general public who doesnt know any better just following ignorantly what is popular culture.
Iphone is better for their OS. I use an iPhone. Everyone I know in business uses an iPhone. Everyone I know that has money, taste and style uses an iPhone. All the successful people I know use an iPhone.
Android devices are for the unemployed and vagrants. It would make me look bad. You are what I like to call a dumb ass like every kid I know. Also, aside from your arrogance making you look bad, you have got to be kidding about BlackBerry.
I carried the Z10 now carry the Passport with BB The lack of apps and limited integration with other devices is stifling. So are you going to cast off your somewhat acceptable friends who carry BlackBerry when their platform becomes Android?
They better run out and get an iPhone when that happens so they can still be honored to be deemed worthy of your friendship. This is the reason why companies are abandoning BlackBerry due to high maintenance costs and instead make private applications for iPhones which you can only download using a special code, a secure application within a secure platform, cheaper to maintain, more convenient for an employee to use.
I completely agree with Bob, Androids are for 12 year olds and vagrants, the paper specs of Androids factually and historically are not an indicator of how they perform. You guys keep proving how Apple markets to ignorant people with a credit card.
That can be a nightmare for testing in house apps. Nothing to do with security. My company uses Android tablets, but all the same kind. I use an iPhone, but custom built my own PC.
What people buy is a matter of taste. People like what they like. Iphone is just for style for big people. I would like to reply to BoB really….. I have not one but four cars I own my home five college educated children my wife earns more than me I have a desktop Imac Ipad a Ipod beats wireless ear phones and my wife and I use a Samsung Note 5 and I am not unemployed and yes I could have purchased a Iphone had Iphones in the past but prefer the android phone.
Grow up it is a matter of preference stop b n a snub… By the way all my children have either device and yes they are all employed also my BMW can connect to either device…….
Jack you are an idiot and a loser! I have an iphone and I hate it! This article is so immature and stupid. Seriously, apps look better? I can literally break this article point by point.
An iPhone 64gb on contract costs almost the same as a carrier free nexus. I am a galaxy s7 user and the screen quality is maybe 2 generations over the iphone.
And about the cables, except the s7, all flagships use USB type c Samsung compensates with wireless charging. The battery life on a nexus or an s7 edge is way superior than the iPhone. And hangout video quality is as good as facetious.
In iphone you can usee iMessage but then to make a video call you need to get out and go to facetime. I can literally go all day long about this. Just one actual good point about iphone you could have mentioned instead of the trash is that it has a stronger graphic processor that but by a small margin.
Do you feel ashamed that you cannot share media via Bluetooth?? The most basic mode of sharing? Talking about airdrop please use wifi direct once. Basically what this article is saying is: Who needs another messenger?
But sooner or later it will be clear at the end — the open environment will always be above the close one, because it is more close to the people! My GS5 came with headphones that offer the same control options.
A few years ago my wife bought me an iPhone after I discarded my Symbian phone. Anyway I started to use this and found out in dismay that I have to have all products to live. Windows used to crash if I connect my iPhone…….
Then the account with and once you are inside the prisoners you are under arrest until proven innocent. Luckily the Sony Z1 appeared and decided to get one. In two days I found life with this phone by far easier than that silly apple I was using……..
I just gave to a friend without asking for any cash. I got rid of it at last and never again……….. Super and Easiest 0nl! Visit this link…… See More. My younger son has an iPhone 6 plus.
I have 30 days to check it out. My Huawei Android is 16g the iPhone 5s is 16g. I like my sd card for these. The iOS Is custom built for and iPhone but the android softwares are not built for any particular device or hardware so optimisation is nog as good as in an Apple device.
It not about specs the camera which shas more megapixels cannot alone deliver better pictures, a processor with more cores and greater clock speed can not alone give better performence until it utilises the most of it.
So as Apple builds it products to its own requirements and deliver better products than android phones. Until I switched over to iPhone several months ago after being a dedicated Android user.
I will always be Team Android, hands down. Then I decided I wanted to try something new—FaceTime, great camera, updated social apps like snapchat…you know, the basics. I just giggle at these articles.
My phone is a half decade old S2. So I guess if you plan on propping up a desk buy an Iphone, for everyone else that has work to do either grab a toolkit full of different things or just grab your android phone.
That means less than 1 in 5 smartphone users have an iPhone. It seems to me going with the herd is more of an Android thing than an iOS thing. I think it is more because a lot of iPhone users seem cultic.
I honestly think iPhone is a high quality product. But I really like high end Androids as well. However, I know people who use only Apple products and make little comments here and there about how inferior ALL Androids are.
In that way I think they are like sheep because they have bought into this notion that their are no good Androids and they are operating on a higher plan than non-iPhone users.
Probably because in the beginning people lined up outside of stores to get the latest and greatest iphone. Plus iphones seem to have a higher resale value.
I do like how apple updates their devices in a timely manner and no bloatware, etc. I want the screen of a Samsung, build of an HTC with the battery life of my droid turbo, a headphone jack at the bottom of the phone instead of the top and I would be in heaven.
Plus everyone I know say is that a Galaxy? So people in my area associate anything android as a Galaxy. Great marketing by Sammy, but perception becomes reality sometimes. Yup, it is about the Apple cult and the attitude that you are unwashed and not worthy if you use an Android.
The attitude you must be broke, homeless, etc. My Android costs as much as a lower range current iPhone and can do way more. Here in the US, they have much greater market share, unfortunately. They have a good camera but that is about it.
So far all my favourite android apps were not available on ios, plus a lot of apps are a minimum of 10 cent cheaper on gpl than on apple app store. I also find it totally ridiculous that iphones need to be jailbroken to undergo any form of customization.
Plus who wants fast updates at the expense of severe bugs, them slowing down stuff even more and getting a crappy operating system that hasnt changed since 5 years. Iphones are for people that only use their phones to txt and make calls.
Buy what you like, but the points on this website are the worst I have ever seen. I love my android devices. Have I had problems. But I tinker with it a lot more than her iphone.
I transfer files back and forth from a computer a lot easier with my device. I have all my music in google play, but use itunes whole family uses ipods so I just sync up that to google music and playlists as well.
Two points I agree with the author about: Timely updates and bloatware. HTC is bucking the trend to stay afloat by addressing this. Wireless charging is not worth it yet.
I much prefer quick charging and new devices starting to roll out with usb-c. The article and ensuing comments are a joke. This is what The internet has come to now days. I have every certification and more hours logged on to these then most of you.
Now that we have established my far superior ability to actually comment here goes. First of all, the people on this blog and on others like it simply cannot help the fact that more people love iphone than android, period.
Let me be clear I have Windows and android and iOS. The android is perfect for more shady people who want to be power users an anarchists or some how feel like they are breaking the law or the rules.
I currently have an android because I can be one of those more shady people who like to go against the grain. Who wants to spend hours on doing something? They all being said I have an android bc of expandable memory, an IR blaster, and a few other small features.
When Apple steps up the game with these I will switch to Apple. Here is one reason why. What is a smart device? It is an item created to make your life as a human eaiser. Apple does that by leaps and bounds!
The phone thinks of you like a loyal old dog and wants to do nothing more than serve your every whim. I can tell you the iphone holds up better, know why? Ever had to fix your mom or dads PC?
And you think to your self wth are they doing with this thing. We never hear that issue out of iphone. So really is a beast just for that reason alone simply bc the general population can break them by doing stupid stuff.
Windows is better than a Mac ios! Windows is a dos based crap system with a gui created for the average consumer to use a device. What is my point now!! Oh yet MAC IOS is FAR superior at least for anyone who actually knows how to use Linux which by the way was and still is the base os on which all other smart software was and still is created.
So you pretty little Windows fanboy users, please get a grip because until you stop drooling over your poster size photo of Bill gates and actually learn Linux you know nothing about computing.
You also probably know nothing right? Research before you comment. I personally own all apple products, but have and still use the other platforms, They all have their advantages and downfalls.
And although I use a Mac, Ipad and Iphone predominantly I still have moments of frustration when I miss windows, android and linux for one reason or another.
Samsung along with android are pure rubbish ….!!!!!! Apple means Cool……Apple means best and good product in your hand…Apple means…. What most of us care about is specs, you can have a 6gb ram on android and have the snapdragon But when it comes to the games the android will never be smooth as Apple or faster the performance in apple will always be better.
But android will only have a bit better graphics because of its amoled technology. Have you tried removing the stocks app recently? What about file sharing, have you never heard of Android Beam?
Or the fact almost every flagship has a fingerprint scanner now? How do you even have a job? This article made me laugh pretty hard. I just love the reasons they give for the phone being better.
Also, those apps that come with the phone, it depends on what you are getting… Also, you do know apple is making a switch to MicroUSB right? Seems like just in this 1 paragraph I have already made better points than this article.
Anyways, phone-wise, androids are almost always more powerful than an apple phone because of the fact that iPhones are never equip with a good core or a good amount of RAM.
They slow down quite quickly and seem obsolete after a few months. I have had my Moto G3 for awhile and it is still ultra fast and has no technical issues. I like to just plug in and drag and drop files….
I laugh at people who buy these things for the show off appeal as I know they are getting ripped in a rather large way………. I used android for 7 years this is my first iphone 5s bought two years back From the day i bought this iphone till now regularly i m browsing in website that why iphone is better than android, why iphone is better than android, why iphone is better than android, why iphone is better than android but while using android i m much okay with everything….
It seems obvious to me. The whole usb bit is quite a stretch too. D XD Please use a droid phone before you write an article about it…. XD Droid phones are better: The only good use for iPhones is this now: So we may conclude lots of ……….
I do not care what the name brand is. It could be called Android or robot or Apple or peaches or dog poo. All I care about is having a good phone that can do the most.
IPhones are good phones. You can do more things with Android that you cannot do with IPhone. The That is the truth. And Apple products are a lot more expensive. There are many, many phones, companies, styles to choose from.
They even offer cheaper options that get the job done. They have an SD card slot. That SD card is yours forever. For future phones or other devices. Without having to go through ITunes or anything else.
And I can customize anything I own. One side has a variety of great cars. The other side has one car that is the most expensive. I hate that place. Of course this is after you make an appointment, or in my case last time, two appointments.
My iPhone does not recognize as a drive when I plug it into my PC. It used to, and then stopped. I want to just plug it in and have it be a drive and copy whatever files I like back and forth.
I also have a pretty complex DSLR camera and yet it is still easy as can be to transfer the photos from the memory card onto the computer. A lot of childish responses from android fans here.
I gave the nexus 6p and try for 2 months after my old iPhone broke. Hardware was great, but I found on this android phone the app integration and interoperability to be no where near as good as an iPhone.
Apple is just better when it comes to form and function. Buy an android if you want to tweak it forever and play in a sandbox, buy and iPhone if you need a productive phone.
Your comment may not be childish but it is not correct. Comparable Android phones have far better form and function. Take the iPhone 6s plus verses a Note 5 or s7 Edge.
Both these phones are far more productive, can multi-task properly, be fully customized and allow widgets on lock and home screens for speed, convenience and ease of use.
The Note even includes a stylus or pencil. Great compact design, fully featured and greater functionality Android vs Heavy outdated bloated hardware with mid-range specs and limited functionality IOS.
Not to forget the limited compatibility of iPhones and lack of choice! This article is a disgrace, misleading at best. Most of the reasons are just not true or highly debatable. If we had a phone that should meet our requirements.
Requirements means each and every people has different requirements in case of security, memory capacity and so and so. Lightning is better than micro usb? The major advantage iOS has over Android is that Apple designs the phone and software.
Take the Nexus phones for example…they just work like the iphones. I used both and I hate that i have to use itune for everything but it is what it is I guess. It must run to compete Android OS.
Micro-USB usually charges everything from headphones, to power banks, and of course cell phones. Why do people even buy the GB version, not to get apps but to download media like pictures, videos, music, etc.
Sign into the play store with the account that originally bought the content, install it, then sign out. They always have nice designs and I like the simple interface. I have been itching to get an SE with its smaller dimensions I like small phones.
Money is not a problem to me but as much as I really want one I will stick with my Android device. Cause the compatibility of iPhones to Windows pcs are real bad or none.
If this one single point of compatibility would be addressed, the iPhone becoming as compatible as Androids, I would get that iPhone SE in a heartbeat! Clear cache option 8. For apps and also all the app store apps 9.
Google maps instead of the crappy apple maps Multiple users feature Unknown sources option Android sounds better then apple. Apple users are like Yankee fans, Android users are the goth kid outsiders.
And the war rages on. The guy who wrote this sounds to be a one eyes man to me….. He is fond of his iphone and may have seen some android phones, but never used any.
Then he decides to write an article called iPhone vs Android and iPhone wins!!!! Some of these are true but Oh God some are just so, so wrong. Android is wayyy better. You clear all at once or swipe.
It combines like notifications that you can separate. It allows to interact with the notification and app without opening it and its just, way simpler and cleaner. Let me settle this.
Are the specs pretty damn similar? Yes alot of the same features? Yes Nexus gets all the Android ones first like Apple. Actually the 7 is less than the Nexus by about Ice bounced back and forth alot between Android and iOS can I say one is superior to the other?
Absolutely not it all comes down to does it do what I want it to and can I afford it. All good and well people love free stuff but free stuff comes with a price of selling your info to the uncontrollable thirst party.
The same applies to text messages. Have u really owned an android? There are many many more possibilities and helpful apps that came with my galaxy s7 edge and i love it alot! So many more features and charging is so much faster and the battery life is amazing.
Apple has had to recall their product so many times because people died from the battery exploding. And with Apple every 3rd phone they stop making updates for it. Android always has updates for their products.
The iPhone 7 that is coming out is a total ripoff. Apple has never made a crack resistance screen and a waterproof phone. Samsung is simply better. I completely am for people having their own opinion, that being said I disagree with the title of this article.
The examples in the article are all apple examples. The author obviously has no experience with android or windows. Compared to what android device? If you have a nexus you get updates as they are released just like and iPhone.
People will choose what they think is best for them. My issue is with the author, not the opinion. All the argument were completely based on opinion and not facts.
People are going to read this and take it all as fact, instead of doing research and finding the right device for them. I have both an iPhone 5 and a Galaxy S7. First, no home screen widgets like my calendar and agenda.
Sure, you can add something like that to the notifications screen, but that involve swiping, as opposed to right on the home screen. On an Android, it operates exactly like a computer should and our phones really are computers these days, with folders, subfolders, etc.
I wanted to try an iPhone, so I got an old one. I could not bring a single file to the phone. The iPhone I got did not have any smart way to save battery. The iPhone I got could not play any of my music because a I could not upload it and b I could not install anything that would play ogg files.
The iPhone I got was heavier, thicker and less good looking than my current Sony. If you live in the Apple world, then an iPhone is probably the logical choice. Being as the story indicates Android phones are only good for 2 years that makes them more expensive.
Iphone offers less control, poor resoluion, no expandable memory and not all phones can share the same apps. This is like comparing the Yugo to Prius. Sure the Yugo is cheaper at first, but after a year of so, not so much.
Iphone resale is more, but that will drop due to fewer and fewer users as they get tired of the box of crayons with only black and white as an option. Is this all a big joke?
But iOS, thats another story, Apple manufactures iPhone and developes a OS which works perfectly with that device, which, supposedly, makes it safer. There are a lot of reason to say Android is better than Android, but the main reason is that you can freely add and delete files from it.
But when I connect an iPhone I have sync up files with iTunes. Why the hell people think synchronization is good? But hey, music was still on my iphone, but NO, I need a third party program, which costs money or could be a malware, just to upload my songs again to a new computer.
Of course I have all my CDs, but thats a week lost. Im simply asking you to do like me if you can, just try everything, because if I read this article iPhone is better, iPhone is better, iPhone is better… I have the feeling that not everyone, but many people conform with iPhone.
Just for popularity, for Apple fanaticism, or just because a website is telling you to buy it with superliminal advertising. I actually find that android apps have become much prettier and definitely more modern than iPhone apps at this point.
Twitter, Facebook, all the google apps, as well as plenty of others have better looking designs on Android now than on iPhone thanks in large part to material design!
Devices cheaper, but they have similar power with iPhones. And I can watch anime on it and play Hearthstone all the same time! Check out my cool article with android vs ios, where android is better: I actually like both but there are two things that make me stick with Android phones: I plug the phone to any pc or laptop with Windows and I can access and modify the memory and sd card just like you do with an USB flash drive.
Google only has bargaining power with Qualcomm insofar as their own contract with Qualcomm to supply parts and support for their own devices. This is the sole reason why there should not be a monopoly in any market.
I really hoped that Intel would succeed which will keep pressure on QC but that hasn't happened yet. Yeah, even if Google wanted to change that, it hasn't leverage to do nothing against this scenario right?
Or get mad at Google, who then in turn could require Qualcomm to support it for 3 years instead The average life of just about any phone is 2 years. Software updates reaching that time and beyond will cripple your device.
Phones aren't made to keep working at their best or even at a quality level beyond that. My friend has an iPhone and has stuck with the platform for several years. The newest one is only a pleasurable experience when it first comes out.
Going on after a year you start to notice a decline in performance and definitely battery life. Even with their continued updates the device is just crippled. I experienced this with an iPhone before.
For all I know it can be a conspiracy as to why phones tap out around that time. I honestly think they're just built to last about that long before needing to purchase a new battery, external battery, or time to upgrade.
It used to be that upgrading every 2 years made sense since the hardware improvements each year were substantial. That's no longer the case. My N5 still runs quite well.
I've never felt the experience of an iPhone diminishes so much that getting a new one any sooner than 3 years is worth it. Once you hit the 3 year mark, however, it goes downhill fast. By contrast, most android phones start to feel ancient by the time they turn 2, imo.
That said, I have no intention of replacing my Pixel XL until it turns 3, and I won't be missing any major android updates, as I'll just buy the pixel that launches with the first version of android the Pixel XL won't receive Android Q.
I don't really buy that, but even if it's true I don't really care. If Google's suppliers are a problem it's Google's problem to deal with. Eh, they'll realize whatever sales numbers tell them.
I didn't want to drop over half a grand on a two-year device; I'll just keep using my Nexus for now. Can't do that when you're supporting products for too long. If they just keep on supporting existing devices, people would be more inclined to keep what they already have instead of going out and buying the shiny new stuff.
If people decide not to buy from them again because Apple has better support that benefits them even less. But that's not gonna happen, so yeah Haha Android has way too much pull in terms of market share.
Google already knows that But people gave happily their butts to the company, so why Google should bother to change the system? You hope that from a company who doesn't even know how many messaging apps are 'adequate' to push down our throat.
Did you not watch the Pixel announcement? They were bragging about how they control the hardware and software now and it allows them to do things they couldn't before I guess keeping the phone up to date for longer than 3 years wasn't one LoL.
This is the first device they put out that they really treated as a "premium" device and a direct competitor to the iPhone. When you hike the price of a product people kind of do expect better support.
Do I think it's ok? It matches iPhone's prices, it should match iPhone's support. Watch how long it will take before someone comes and says: It's fine for you to shrug your shoulders, but it's unacceptable to get the same response from Google.
They're actually in a position to do something about it. That's the thing though. They have never done anything about it. Take a look at their hardware history, phones, tablets, laptops, OnHub Again, I don't support this behavior but at this point I don't expect any better from them.
Security wise yes, but OS software wise no. Technology software advances too fast and hardware doesn't age well. Google has to continually improve Android OS as a whole. Just look at how a new software update can crush performance on older iPhones.
If a phone's hardware is incapable of running the new software that's a legitimate reason to stop upgrading it. Google stops upgrading them well before the hardware is incapable of running the newer versions though.
Google has brainwashed the lot of you into thinking there's compatibility issues when they simply don't feel like putting in the effort software wise. You gonna tell me won't be able to run Android Q without issues?
Fact of the matter is that Google doesn't have exclusive control over how hardware is supported which does influence officially sanctioned releases. I agree they do stop support a tad early.
For instance I'm sure the Nexus 6 could've easily run the current Nought build yet it's stuck at 7. Would be nice to know what it is beyond cost alone for development.
Yes they do, well they build it anyway from AOSP. So if Samsung wanted to make an Android O build right now they could. But in two years QC won't be supporting the sd How is it much worse?
Samsung supports it's flagship devices as much as Google does. It's not good at all, but not much worse either. One more thing Google has to do next to be no different than other normal Android manufacturers.
Sell the current pixel for half the price when the new pixel comes into market. My expectations of pixel becoming on par with iPhone just went out of the window. They should have at least provide security updates for 5 years.
You're paying for the hardware, not the support. But that extra money buys you retail locations with real people, and easy warranty returns, and generally higher quality hardware, and that cool logo on the ba - wait, maybe I'm thinking of someone else I was just going to say you went to an Apple Store, until I got to the end of your comment.
You've accepted be Google's prostitute the day you bought a Dead Pixel In other words, the Pixels are treated just like Google's other phones. Not sure why anyone expected anything different.
I'm fine with this. Google cant tell Qualcomm what to do. Qualcomm controls the "official" drivers for SOCs. Google can also make reasonable contracts like "I'll buy XX million of your SoC if you support it for at least 4 years.
Oh is that how it went for you when you did your SOC negotiation with Qualcomm? I didnt realize it was so easy and Qualcomm would be happy to sacrifice future SOC sales that easily.
Yeah the real fix is for Google to make their own SOC, but as mentioned already that's no simple task. Yes, Qualcomm would be sacrificing nearly everything because of the Pixel being the top seller in the Android market I knew I missed something while writing my first comment Google is so much bigger than qualcomm.
If they supported longer it would hurt sales for them since that means less handset sales down the road. Ok i saw it: Google be like https: Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there talk for a while that Google is working on their own processor, and if they do come out with one and use it for future devices, it would enable them to support devices for longer?
Yeah, probably should have mentioned that, although considering when those reports came out, and how long something like this could take, I figured it was a given not this year.
That tells you they are at least trying to make it happen. I dont get why AndroidPolice doesnt seem to know much about this topic. Having the opportunity to develop SoCs in-house and actually working towards that are two separate things.
It was a very promising statement. Also, read this about qualcomm's lack of SOC support: I think Qualcomm is in "turning a tanker" territory at this point.
We all know it's mostly their fault. Think there were rumours of them hiring some hardware people, but it's not even that simple, getting their own silicon out would be a pretty massive undertaking.
Of course it's not simple, especially since something like that could and would shake things up and not necessarily for the better. Don't iOS devices typically see around 5 years support?
Android Police should be more aggressive about coaxing Google and other flagship manufacturers to do the same instead of just singing the same old mantra all the time.
That's the thing I like about Apple. They update all of their devices. Wish there was a way to update any device I own with pure Android. Then I guess we can't really count Apple's support as 5 years because they don't typically allow the older devices to have all of the newest features.
They sort-of do, but have you used like an iPhone 5 with iOS 9 or 10, you'll notice that it becomes unbearably slow or what iOS users called "iOS slow", this is partly for planned obsolescence, there's no real proof that Apple is doing that on purpose http: I don't disagree with this point, personally, however I will say that if Google is trying to position themselves as a competitor to Apple in this arena, they have to be able to compete with Apple.
They need to get to 5 years of support, even if it's not on major versions but it would be easier for them to just support major versions. Great point about maybe just providing security updates for 5 years.
Can't expect Google to keep providing new features for old devices, but should expect to continue secure usage after three years without being a whiz. My iPhone 5S runs just fine.
But it is about a year old. But still it would be great to get 3 years of support instead of 2. Google really should extend their OS support to years, instead of just 2. Most people don't need a new phone every 2 years.
Only those who are hard on their devices, and those who chase new technology. I was always on the latest version of the OS for that 3 years. There was this 1 month whe i was waiting for my nexus 6p to show up and thats when i was one version behind.
That's kind of the name of the game. Every major US carrier tries to get you to trade in your phone after 12 months for an upgrade. Making money is the entire point of the spec race in smartphone manufacturing.
More than enough for most I'm thinking but resale value would improve if a 4th OS version was made available. Thing is, how will the phone perform at that point? Those iPhones that get that old have been known to slow down considerably.
You don't need to update every 2 years, you'll still be on the latest release through the 3rd year. If you're someone who doesn't have the desire to upgrade after 3 years, you likely don't care that much about being on the latest version of Android anyway.
It's not like the phone will stop working. Google launched the Pixel to directly compete with the iPhone. That's why the two devices are priced the same. So, given that agenda, why doesn't Google also match the support that Apple gives the iPhone?
Just to compare the 2 platforms, keep in mind that the iPhone 5 is going to get updated to iOS Meanwhile, the Nexus 6 is beyond its EOL mark. Let that sink in. I know there is some debate as to who exactly is responsible for this.
But regardless this sucks. At the very least the 2 years support clock should start the very last day that Google has the pixels for sale. Considering how hard it is to actually purchase these phones, one should be guaranteed 2 years of full support regardless of when they were able to purchase.
But obviously that is fantasy, this is reality, and I will continue to wonder if I could survive with an iPhone. In reality, the end result would be exactly the same.
Whether it's 2 years from release or 2 years from 10 months after release, the latest update you would get is still P. Security patches are more important than OS updates.
It's good to see Google committing to 3 years for security patches. I can barely hold out for two full years before upgrading anyway. The hardware improvements usually tip the scale for me.
I thought the Fixel was on life support since it's release. Wasn't that why Google kept trying to fix the problems with it? Root your damn phones already and run a custom ROM software that includes all the Google updates!!
It's your phone, run what you want on it already and STFU. Google should really flex some muscle here along with the other OEMs and extend the period by at least a year. An additional 2 4 years total would be great.
Until batteries have significantly better battery longevity it matters little. What good is an up to date phone if you need to charge it every few hours? This is one area where Samsung is taking the lead with their new S8 battery.
We'll see if it delivers on the promise, but it's a good aim to have. That argument is irrelevant in parts of the world like Asia. You can walk into a phone repair store, put down 30 usd and walk out with a new battery in an hour.
You get get a lot of parts for your phone replaced and half the price that it costs in the u. People keep their phones. Ok, sure, but that's a non-official work around that likely voids one's warranty immediately.
In theory, you could keep replacing batteries for a decade or more. By extension, your logic implies a phone OEM should provide software support indefinitely. I'm not saying Google and others shouldn't commit to longer software support.
But given Android phones consist of so many hardware variations it makes ongoing support almost impossible. Apple have the advantage here in that they have tighter control of their hardware meaning they can commit to longer software support.
I don't see any of this changing for the broader Android ecosystem any time soon. Google, on the other hand, is probably looking at designing its own chips for the Pixel to help bridge the software update gap to Apple and the iPhone.
That's a fair point. But my other key point still stands - it's hard for Google and other OEM's to offer software support as long as a company like Apple given the variations in hardware out there running Android.
Google isn't supporting every hardware variation that Android runs on, they're only supporting the devices they ship.

Well first off, it was an argument. It was a question. Good answer by the way. I'm glad you feel so strongly about Android's improvement. I am well aware that Google gets it wrong, a little too often sometimes. Explore the world of iPad. Check out iPad Pro, available in two sizes, iPad, and iPad mini. 22.02.2018 - There is nothing special about it. Depends on what Rom you are using… Some Chinese Roms have that, CyanogenMod S have it and some versions of Android have it in general as a hidden menu. One plus 5t price in nepal national football - Una... Im leaning heavily towards the edge also.
We aren't talking warranty. We're talking replacing your battery which will allow you to keep your device a little longer.
I see your point. You could also stop into a Sony, Huawei, Samsung Etc and get your battery officially replaced by them as well. Meanwhile old iPhones getting updates in Is google just lazy or there is another reason?
Google would need their SOC. It's unfortunate Samsung didn't care to update their phones besides having their own. It's really 3 years, it'll get O and P and get security updates until the release of Q and the Pixel 4.
Although I think they really should extend security updates past that, gotta keep your stragglers safe. It's said this at the bottom of the Pixels official spec page ever since they took pre-orders for the phone.
Delevopment for Samsung phones are strong on XDA. Too bad I cant say the same for Pixel and Nexus phones. I do not care what the reason is, it's inexcusable in and especially for someone that had the clout such as Google.
I'm sorry but two years of official OS updates on a device that is as expensive as the Pixel is a bummer. If a ragtag group of dev s over at XDA can get things working on much older hardware then Google needs to get it done.
If you guys don't like that Google doesn't support their devices like Apple then don't buy their phones. It's not going to change anytime soon so you aren't doing anything by complaining about it.
I change my phone every year so it doesn't bother me. Are they using older drivers? If so then it seems like the older drivers work fine. Its business model is a 2-year planned obsolescence.
Google's got fuck all control over it. Absolutely pathetic considering the price. Hate to say it but at this price people are better off buying an iPhone. Pixel XL 2 better be over 5. The 6 inch Nexus 6, aka Shamu was perfect.
Its all business, shorter support time span, end-users will upgrade to newer phones. It's not profitable that and end-user keep using a phone for more than 2 years. It's like the urban legend, that says that Apple on its updates, decreases performance on older phones, forcing users to get new ones, even if they are still functional.
Uh, Apple is absolutely king here as hard as that is to say. It's no contest if you want to keep your phone for many years. Yes I understand how they are able to do this i. Google needs to hop on this with it's Pixel line.
Just another proof that google sucks! Hopefully this year I am switching back to Samsung. Samsung also offers 2 years of update and added to this I am getting a phone that is designed well and its screen looks amazing with tons of options rather than the sepia screens of google which are covered by a huge bezel!
This is not fair, Google needs to do something about Qualcomm and bump it up to 3 years of software support. My old iPhone 5s still gets updates. It's unfortunate the best Android choice for updates doesn't go beyond 2 years for non security updates.
Google said already their Devices get always 2 Years Support, not longer. God Thanks i haven't switched to Pixel. Nexus 6P for life. Samsung has better hardware and far more useful software.
I went from Note 3 to Nexus 6 and I wasn't all that impressed. It's a great phone, besides the painfully slow camera, but I fell for and got disappointed by the 'stock android is so much better' meme.
I'm just going to say this, if they want to win as a provider and phone manufacturer, they are going to have to do better. Some people don't get their phone on release day, and they would love to have the latest OS for a while.
The Pixel should not be full price right now. They will have only 15 months of guaranteed updates. Latest news Oreo 8. Are you saying that on the M9 the Chrome browser does wrap when you zoom in?
It didn't on the display model. Which is a bummer. Chrome on android is not my favourite browser. Great on windows, but not on google's own My girlfriend just walked in the door with a new M9 so I had a quick play.
Compared to my M8, to an extent I agree with daniel jack. It's feels lighter than the M8 and that gives a bit of a cheap feeling. That's in direct comparison to holding an M8 though and in isolation I'm sure the M9 would feel very very nice.
Being able to play with one reinforces the decision not to upgrade from an M8. Way too similar for me. I thought every browser wraps until I used my iPhone for a few weeks and noticed Safari doesn't wrap.
So I tried the well known alternative browsers and none of them wrap. There's a couple of others listed here in the workarounds section. They both handle text differently.
The stock HTC browser does what Opera did back in the WinMo days by keeping font sizes the same and just reflowing text into readable columns. The Chrome browser does more what Safari does which is scale the text size to the display so that it looks right from almost any zoom level.
I had trouble with previous phones, except the Desire. Third party browsers like Dolphin et al are a bit hit and miss. But I'll keep looking My watch and the M9 are struggling to maintain connection with each other, even when close On the bright side though, the freebie via Telstra online, offer over Monster DNA headphones are very good — for a freebie.
They are light, compact and have pretty good sound at normal levels. Can get a bit harsh at higher sound levels, but overall, a good match to the M9. Shouldn't be hard at all, but I suspect its an issue somewhere with the watch, lollypop and android wear.
Noting my bluetooth headphones have no issue in maintaining connection and the distance appears greater, compared to M7. Can you NOT take vertical photos only landscape? It is annoying me.
In my M7 I just held the phone and took the photo vertical if I wanted it landscape I turned the phone and all things moved with it all the things you need to press moved with it.
It is totally weird and stays upside down. On the bright side though, the freebie Monster DNA headphones are very good — for a freebie. Works ok for me. If I hold the phone in portrait mode I get a portrait shot, landscape, get a landscape shot.
In gallery though, unless I rotate the phone to portrait, a portrait shot viewed in landscape mode is rather small and cropped. Same as with M7. Even with forced flash the photos are sub sub par.
Haven't tried front camera though. It only connects once, then Android Wear just says "Connecting.. Plus I keep getting message "Please connect android watch". This phone is becoming a real disappointment the more I try and get things that I had taken for granted to work.
Luckily I got it for basically nix on recontracting with Telstra, but I wouldn't pay actual money for it at all, now. Recontracting gave me an advantage on the old M7, so I'm not behind unless a fresh 24 months with Telstra is a backward step..
My problem now is that the Nano sim is activated and the micro sim in the M7 is not, so I can't go back without an adapter. Thinking of returning it and telling Telstra, sorry, but its worse than the model two iterations older than it, so its not really fit for purpose, especially if my GWR can't work.
Some settings must be wrong somewhere. I hold phone upright portrait and it is sideways all the controls and the view, and the picture comes up sideways like that. Well the view looks upright but all controls are down the side and the picture then shows in sideways landscape,.
I have been looking this up on the web for the M8. Seems it is a G-callibration thing and now i have done it I can take vertical photos! So if anyone else has this problem this is the solution.
Select or clear the Auto-rotate screen option to turn it on or off. If screen rotation is not working even if auto rotate is active then you might want to do a recalibration of your phone G-Sensor.
After the recalibration process, tap OK. Read more at http: Happens to me occasionally, found it only in started happening with the latest android wear update. I think the fault is more to do with software rather than the phone itself.
Have you tried putting your g watch in airplane mode, killing the android wear ap from memory and restarting it all? Thanks heaps, I'll have a read and also make sure I don't update to sense 7 when Telstra releases it for M7.
I own an iPad since two years. I am happy with my iPad which I use mainly for games and some handwriting. Yes I was annoyed from android. It had, due to some reason, a built in issue which I only realized after warranty finished.
My faulty s3 obliged me to hate Samsung and android. Then I bought note 4. It solved all my problems I faced on s3. But still there were some things I did not feel good about.
Now after purchasing iPhone 7plus GB I understand the power of google. The three apps Google search, google maps and google drive are enough reason to close down iPhone factory from the face of earth.
Thinking to upgrade from s5. Thought for iPhone 7. My andrioid mobile automatically silents itself when I enter meetings or office. Automatic meeting mode when meeting is scheduled only beeps I can give my mobile to anyone to see coz I have app specific fingerprint.
Only sensitive apps are protected. All other is open. These are not possible with apple except jailbreak. These are just samples. I can write journal what android can do.
Speed is not important with a Ibrick which can not do anything smart. I want my work to be done and my pocket secretary to work according to my requirements. Reason number one, you have an actual file system.
Anyone who has dealt with iOS horrendous file management paradigm appreciates the ease as at which files are accessible in Android. You simply click on Open, navigate to where your files are stored, select, done.
There is also never any reason to use the Share function except when sharing data with the internet. Example, I can stream a film to my TV wirelessly, while compiling an application via a remote terminal, while downloading a 40GB file directly to my NAS drive which is mounted as a local folder, while I convert a media file to.
I have a global search function, which is one of the worst things about iOS, how do you find files. I can customize voice commands, this is perhaps one of the coolest things about about Android.
I have around custom voice commands, mostly for searching files. Mouse support, while connected to a monitor I can use a mouse and a keyboard. Even when not connected to a phone, having access to a mouse is an absolute must when using a tablet as a laptop.
I can customize my entire system to what I want it to be, give it personality, iOS users have been using the same system UI for the last 9 years. I can even open up the same file within multiple apps at the same time.
I never, ever have to create more than one file, I just use the original file, always. I can use Linux under a Chroot, meaning I have a full Debian server running under my phone.
I can use my phone as a desktop computer, this one might sound weird but not only is it possible, it works incredibly well. All of my applications including the ndroid ones are opened up in individual windows, so none of that dual app view non-sense.
In which in iOS less than 0. I will never, ever not be able to run the latest version of Android. When a manufacturer stops updating their phone, no problem, I just install a custom ROM and they work fantastically.
My phone is a computer, a real powerhouse, a real smartphone. Every time I use an iPhone I absolutely hate the experience. I mean even to type a post like this I would have to use a text editor as I would be afraid to loose all of my work as anytime you switch to another app, Safari just resets.
Though what bothers me the most is the lack of multitasking, yes, sure, there are a few apps that can run in the background but they are far and few and none of them are the ones that I need or want to use.
Than there is the file system or I should say lack of, dealing with files IOS is simply a complete nightmare. Not only do I have my remote server directly mounted as a local directory on my phone but my workstation and all of my cloud services as well, all accessible within any app installed.
Yes, my post is huge, but this authors best 15 reasons why the iPhone is a joke. Apple keeps skipping over every feature that we actually want, need. Horrible inner app communication including the Sharing function in which took Apple 8 years to even release that crap, ugh, the list just goes on and on and ………….
This is one of the most biased articles I have ever read on complementing Apple. I have used Iphone before and it surely not my cup of tea. Listen what I think is that you have written an article telling the blank truth of your mind.
One can truly say that iPhone is way more better than android. I was suckered in buying 2 android devices the samsung galaxy s3 and the nexus 4. I gave it a try because my friends raved about android.
They are smart people who generally have great advice and knowledge on technology. However I found out that their judgement were out of biased hatred toward apple.
As for higher resolution our eyes dont even detect the larger resolutions. I found out the hard way, downloaded apps that just didnt work for my device. Google needs to improve this I dont know if they are better now but man they need to detect the hardware your using and tell you ahead of time before you download and install an app that its compatible with your device!
Its a great idea so called if all your launchers actually look good! Just go with apple, its like saying would you hire great designers for your house and you would just let them have their way in designing the house for you or would you want to design it yourself?
Dont hire cheap designers to design the way your phone looks and works. Why must I non stop have to tweak things on my phone to get save battery or make things work? For instance for whatsapp there was no function built into the app that when I want to send a larger video than that of the given limit on a video it just rejects it.
On iOS whatsapp gives you a little function that u can just cut the video into segments and send them in separate messages? This sounds like it can be something that is on the app level.
I dont know but as for end user experience its just not convenient you need to download another app that will cut videos in segments for you this is retarded. Theres on and on the list goes android and samsung devices are not superior devices.
The features samsung lovers speak of are just gimmicks. Keyboards, widgets, notifications honestly who cares? Especially when widgets just take down performance on your phone? I just dont see any benefits on android especially the argument went something like this: By the way prices are not cheaper anymore so android fanboys have no actual argument.
Like I said I tried android and they are not superior phones both hardware and software. Aesthetically Android phones are ugly. You now pay a premium price on sub premium products, and they explode.
The geometry with the shadows and vibrant colors is beautiful. The app drawer is simple, and you can put the apps you use on your home screen. Anybody who argues this point has never used them side by side.
Even a couple of Macs. For the average user the I Phone is a better choice. They are simple and work well. The hardware and software are proprietary. In fact the phones are sealed.
Comparable Android phones cost a lot less. The Android phones natively work with Google Apps. We use our phones in the business. We use the Google phones and Motorola phones. They run pure Android without all the carrier bloatware.
I like to say Apple invented the smartphone, but Google perfected it. Most people will get along fine with the toaster and microwave. But, what if you could get the full commercial kitchen for the same price as the toaster and microwave?
Everyone has an opinion about which is better. There are very distinct differences between the Android and Apple phones. Wtf, apps never ever releases on iOS first.
It always releases on android first. The only thing iOS beats android in is security and stability. And one thing more, who ever uses FaceTime or iMessage, when we have messenger, Skype ect… And that point when you said that iOS stock apps was the stupidest crap I have ever heard.
First of all it was a shit point, what are you gonna need the looks for? Second is that not everyone thinks it look better, so keep that mind. I have to admit that the design of iOS is pretty nice, but you get quick tired of it.
Terrible article by an obvious fanboy. You are listing many things, like lack of carrier or manufacturer bloatware, reversible charging plug, seamless sharing, etc and saying they are exclusive to Apple.
Try a Nexus, or as of this year, Pixel phone. No bloat, Android as Google intended it. That would be a more fair comparison as those are at least close in the chain to Google, like an iPhone is to Apple.
NFC is the simplest. Just hit share and tap. All but the cheapest Androids have that these days. Anyways, I am convinced you have never used a decent Android, ever. Certainly not one from Google themselves.
I will leave you to tend to your iFlock. Some apps require root access which only advance users should do. Android interface is not as intuitive as iOS. Some android apps hang.
If you do it in a lit environment you will get it in first try because the micro USB shape is easy to see 2. If you are in the dark: And there is a difference between apps looking better and having more features on Apple which are usually hardware based, I just brought this up because no matter who you ask if you compare a Samsung phone with its equivalent iPhone generation, Samsung phones ALWAYS have better displays and MOSTLY have better cameras.
Samsung phones are also very comfortable, for example I am writing this on a Samsung galaxy s7 edge. Finally Samsung has always had earphone controls so either I read it wrong that you said these are things we will miss very much or you are really confused.
Each and every single of these are false. Android is actually better in every single of these areas. From the first to the last one. Worse yet, many of these points are actually some of the very reasons why idevices absolutely suck.
And if you do, you can do almost anything from installing apps to changing your software. The update can still download on older Apple products, because I have a IPad 2 that came out in and it still receives all of the latest updates.
It is running IOS 10 right now. Been an exclusive apple lover for 7 years now. But just bought an edge 7. Was amazed to see how much progress android has made and makes my iphone look so limited.
I am aware that android tends to slow down over time but that is yet to happen to me. For now the openness of android is amazing as it is giving me a computer like experience while iOS still strictly behaves like a mobile device only.
Make Dollars per month. The author has no idea of the freedom of open source OS. From the moment you boot up ios, there are restrictions to what you can do with your phone.
Guess what, my old galaxy s2 is already running marshmallow like a charm and i think both of them were released in the same year. You are writing about malware crap which is misleading. And you obviously have no idea about the difference between android based phones and android phones.
Most of the Phones from samsung, htc, sony etc run Custom Android based OS, They are actually custom build port of android, not real android phones, so obviously there will be some issues too if you try to port IOS on samsung.
A high end smartphone can go head to head with iphone in each and every aspect. My s6 edge is not even a tad slower than iphone 6, in fact, it performs even better. The slowdown overtime can be experience on low end smartphone.
Obviously the one writing this comment has no idea about fstrim. I decided to upgrade it to the 7, which turned out to be just as bad. For the price, they should be giving people something amazing, not mediocrity!
How much did they apple pay you for such a bad article. Android is by far the superior technology. It means that you have to buy a new google phone from the date it is first available in order to really benefit from the updates.
More pixels require more energy and chip performance. To human eye it looks the same screen. Do you really need that for your serious business tasks? Kids need that for games only….
Well you sound like Forest Gump in his movie when he said that his friend opened Apple company for selling fruits…. I installed iTunes once and my computer was never the same again.
It was slower and crashed more often untill I uninstalled it. It deserves to be in top 5. Many webmasters think that seo is dead in, but it is not true. After I had it for 3 months it slowed down on me and its battery life is horrible.
The quality of Apple is way better. Yes Apple does come out with the newest technology a bit latter then android but you can see it it a good way or a bad. The bad way would be that their slow, the good way you can see it as if their watching googles failing parts and their making it better.
Also I can see you all are fighting over this topic which is pretty stupid. Everyone is different so everyone is going to want something different. If we all wanted android or we all wanted Apple we would become robots.
If you wanted to find a phone to get then get into inside detail to see what your looking for. If you wanted fun texting and want to be more secure then go straight for apple because they got the best for that but if you wanted fun lock screens or be able to put micro SD cards and changeable batteries then go for android but let me remind you that anyone can take the SD card out and take your information.
They think because its popular its the best choice.. Wow, people here in the comments are blind as heck, like have you people ever used and iPhone before? Think before you speak. I have used an android phone for the last 20 yrs and just in the last 2 yrs switched to an iPhone.
Sure there may be more that an android can do provided you download appropriate apps but as a comment above made, after a month or 2 the android starts slowing down dramatically.
With the iPhone this does not happen. BUT the major improvement that will keep me with the iPhone is security!!!!!! There are alot to know about these two before making your mind to go for iPhone or Android, one of them.
Both phones have their own features and plus points. It is insane to say this iPhone is best and other phones are rest. As we all know among both of these Android has very good quality of camera but latest iPhone 7 brings the revolution in the mobile market.
To know more about this you can read from this link: Well said Josh…But my view about your article is…no one can say with his or her own perception that iPhone is better than Android or vice versa.
There is alot to know about before making up the mind to go for iPhone instead of Android. Seriously, its really insane to say this iPhone is best And other are rest….
As everyone know this Android has good camera quality but we also know this iPhone 7 placed the revolution in the mobile market as well. What i am trying to tell you is this perspectives and features.
To know about these or making a decision about which is better or not… Please read about these two on this link: Please, folks, be nice. Product reviews from real people are what most of us are looking for.
Dude…for your information you can download a marshmellow file or higher on even a jellybean phone…so u dont have to buy a new android phone. When u do all your reseach u can make a blog dude.
Is that the best you could do, it gives the article away as biased! I was a Android addict until I choose iphone for an experiment. I have been an iPhone user since day one currently 7 Plus, but this article is insanely prejudiced.
Most of the alleged superiorities are interoperabilty between iPhones iMessage, Airdrop or between iPhone and other Apple devices Handoff — if you are a PC owner, or have a large number of friends or fellow users on Android, these advantages are insignificant at best.
I will concede that updates and lack of carrier bloatware are significant pluses, the author is doing an extreme disservice to new users by basically promoting an iPhone prejudice.
Security, Privacy, Stability, Performance and Usability. Vulnerabilities are patched quicker in iOS. And of course iOS offers the better out of box experience.
Not to mention you can never make Android as secure as iOS, only close to as secure. Part of the reason is even if you tweak your Android settings to be similar to iOS, the official Google Play Store gets far more malware than the AppStore and Cydia combined.
So only way to even remotely match it is not download apps or games. My other favorite part of iOS over Android is the fact you can use true adblockers in iOS, not just adblock browsers without the need to root or jailbreak.
Google will never allow you to block ads in Chrome or block all ads third party ads without rooting. And as you knowing rooting and jailbreaking merely lowers the security of the OS.
Just acts more like a computer in regards to freedom to do as you will where iPhone is locked down like a game system. You can do all that in iTunes. Today security is most important and that is iOS goal.
I also believe iPhone is better than Android. I am tired of using Android and going to buy iPhone soon for better camera, speed and style. One VERY important fact that no one has mentioned… with Apple you can be a total amoral ignoramous and be surrounded by adoring fans!!
Who really cares if the poor sods on the other side of the world live the lives of slaves? Who cares if the companies solution to suicides are suicide nets around buildings and removing knives?
Who cares if most of the jobs are not in the countries paying for the status symbols? My 3 year old plays on my old 2nd gen iPhone that has the latest IOS on it. I have never, ever ever got a virus on ANY Apple product, and never had to put any software or app to keep it running correctly.
As far as customization? Give me stability anytime. Have a nice day all. I have a MicroUSB running from my desk to my PC to charge my wireless mouse, and then I would also use it to charge my phone sometimes.
Some apps can latch onto some functions in the phone, kinda like installing an extension for your desktop browser. Just do a Quick google search iphone is less reliable than Android, theres your Answer in the studies.
These comparisons are so lame… Eg: Country X is much better than the rest of the world, because the rest of the world have varying standards, while Country X has only 1 level of corruption.
Also to feel the power and beauty of technology in your hand. Android phones are for kids who like customizations and pretty colors and to look like iron man or similar…. And looks for business high class.
No more no less. Android technologies gives you extra things which are seldom used and are simply extra using more battery and device performance. Keeping updating same style to better one making it each time better and better.
Today we are talking of gigs bytes. So I respect both iPhone and Android technologies for their great effort and progress. Competition shall exist to make difference and better. No doubt iPhone is the best.
And Android has its advantages to like getting to pick the default browser. Promotional Offer — Buy 2 Get 1 Free. Warranty — 2 YEARs. It should have been either ios vs android or iphone vs samsung, moto, etc.
I have just crossed the divide from a nexus 6 to an iphone 7 plus. I have found iphone apps work better. System is super quick. Everything seems to work how it is supposed to without strange errors.
I am getting on with doing what i have to without googling why something isnt working properly. Photo app is amazing. Web sites load really fast. I am now an Apple convert! The price difference is negligible now but the performance is chalk and cheese.
My first phone was an android. I hated it, probably because it was really old and complicated. When I got an iPhone 5, I really liked the simplicity of it. The apps were way better and was less laggy.
There are so many nonsense comments on this list. Lol if like to see that, yeah maybe if all your other devices are apple!! I can name about 50 reasons android is better than I Phone….
It seems idiotic to buy an IPhone. You can get phones that are no joke, 5x faster for half the price. Pros Hardware and software both controlled and optimized by Apple Curated app store, fewer worries of malware Generally good support.
Pros Open source, easily customized Expandable storage on many phones Wider choice of phones. Cons Higher chance of malware Interface not the same on all phones Patchy support.
In conclusion I would recommend not to by and apple computer and or iPhone because of the very expensive repair price and the child proofing of there iPhones that is the only reason why they are prone not to getting viruses they are limited and closed it is very sad.
Me and my brother just finished reading this article and were laughing hysterically through every single reason. You even used some funny tactics to make the iPhone look better in every photo, like using a small Galaxy model next to a large iPhone, with iPhone on full brightness and the Android one at around half.
First of all, you said iPhone apps update sooner and are pretty. The reverse is usually true, as most developers prioritize on Android because more people use it. Sure, older Android phones no longer receive the newest updates… but neither do old iPhones.
Does anyone here have an iPhone 4 running ios 10? The next one made me laugh so hard that I got sharp pains in my stomach. In fact, no Apple device can integrate with anything other than another Apple device.
The only apps on Android you cannot uninstall are the system apps. After all, a warranty, like any other insurance business model, makes responsible users who do not break their phones subsidize those who do break their phones.
Can you guess why iPhones resell at a higher value? Higher resell value is just a not-so-clever way of spinning the fact that iPhones are extremely expensive. Lightning miles better than Micro USB?
First of all, an entirely subjective statement. The Lightning cord was unpopular for a reason. Like the mighty kraken, Apple has a way of grabbing you and pulling you into their ecosystem, choking you to death by consistently overcharging you for mediocre hardware.
Apple stores for support? You mean like the equivalent support you can get from most Android phone manufacturers, MINUS the cheap rates and competition? That sounds FAR superior! The ease of use argument only exists because some of the things you can do on Android, but not iPhone, can be difficult.
Because the fact is, Android is so much more customize-able. You can install new themes, you can use file managers, you can manually install app packages, and much, much more. Some of these things take learning, but at least you can do them in the first place.
If you just want an Android to use as a phone, you can do so just as easily. Ease of use is just another way of saying you cannot do anything advanced on IOS. Better control of notification?
Storage use and carrier options: You wrote that you can move some but not all apps to the SD card as a negative. Obviously, because you should not be able to move essential system apps to an external device.
At least you can choose external storage in most Android phones, which cannot be done on a one size fits all iPhone. This post was pathetic, mostly because every single argument is a non-argument, or reflects negatively on iPhones.
It does provide a good laugh, though. Curious, Josh Smith, what do you use as your personal daily phone? Is this article a joke? Must be cause the first couple of paragraphs just made me laugh hard.
And for all the Apple hard-core fans out there: I am far from an Apple fan and I think a lot of his reasons are invalid, but what this author is doing is very respectable. So he basically argues it from both sides and allows you to come to your own conclusion.
Updates True, iphone updates are awesome and mostly stable and offers for years straight. That means the iphone 5s still gets the newest updates and which makes the phone so slow, many complaints about that already on reddit.
No carrier bundled Apps? Ever heard of Oneplus? Dash Charge from oneplus Otto is LIght years better than lightning. So another point for android. Apple Stores for Support. You seriously have to go out, drive min to find a store?
